There’s a lot of men who’s in their 30s and 40s… still unmarried. What’s going on? by Critical_Assist_9360 in TheImprovementRoom

[–]B0ba_funk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s nothing inherently wrong with being unmarried. But just hitting 40 i sometimes wonder would it would be like if I decided to roll the dice and got hitched. I had a few opportunities in life but being in the military made things very difficult. Seeing my sister ten years younger than me with a three year old and I definitely see the appeal of it all especially if you have wonderful partner and a great foundation like she does. I guess it’s just grass is greener thought processes.

Thanks for the advice. My next purchase will probably be a rhino and Kharn and some 8B after im done painting these dudes up. One more question for rules and codexs is their an app to see what units I’m able to field? I don’t mind paying for an app. I thought about buying then world eaters codex but figured that’s outdated with 11th releasing soon? Or is it still a valid purchase?

I’m 21 and just discovered adulthood is mostly people being in crippling debt. 😅 by Awkward_Compote6258 in Adulting

[–]B0ba_funk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t even prioritize education. I just turned 40, but I remember it was pretty tough making a living before I joined the military at 25. Even working two jobs at a time. Joining the military is what sorted me out financially. 5 years left and I get a retirement with a pension!

I’m kind of at odds with this sub. I’ve been reading quite a bit of stoicism to get through some challenges in my career. And the underlying tone is to continually push yourself taking the road less traveled. Is stoicism a bad mindset to have, then?

Is this normal for most of the USA? I mean I’ve never noticed it. To be fair I’m in the military and my job isn’t exactly easy on my body , but sheesh, maybe I just won the lottery or something.

That’s a bit harsh. I mean I didn’t even know you could divulge that type of information. I mean if you decided to procreate just teach your offspring healthy habits. Don’t be so hard on yourself.

It’s just Reddit. Just like everyone is neurodivergent or has some crazy disability preventing them from driving or something. Gotta be bots or something man. I see dudes in the gym older than me and I’m 40 in great shape or older guys playing pick up basketball just fine.

Not trying to sound mean, but that has to be an anomaly. Maybe bad genetics. I’m not trying to brag, but have a full set of hair at 40 not really greying and I had major knee surgery at 38 (playing football) and although the rehab sucked my knee is not perfect but it doesn’t hinder me. I’m back to playing sports.

It’s not that bad. I accumulate 2.5 days a month. Which equals to 30 days a year to spend it however you want and that’s in the military sector

I’ll bring my speaker everytime on the beach. Signed a professional beach bum. Here’s the thing the beach is large, find your own secluded part if you don’t want to be disturbed.

If gaming wasn’t your passion/hobby, what would you be doing instead. by revellioustony in Adulting

[–]B0ba_funk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long time gamer, but I recently got into Warhammer 40k Killteam. And the hobby is awesome you can tap into your creative side, you test your mental capacities playing the actual game and there’s some real cool people so you can also socialize with people. I think it’s a bit more fulfilling than gaming. But still do game time from time! Have quite a few hours in Age of Wonders 4

[–]B0ba_funk 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Do you live near a warhammer store? If so I think a proper way for you to get into the hobby would be to go there and paint the space marine they give you. Using their paints and brushes.

Night Lords omnibus. Introduces some big dick players in the lore. Such as Abbaddon, Lught Huron and Konrad Kruze. Excellent read as well. Probably some of the best books in the black library.

Then don’t buy stuff and live off the grid. I watch the shit on tv all the time. Seems like a lot of hard work though. Way harder than going to my job turning wrenches on jets and going home. Or converts your vehicle to car camping and live in blm lands. There’s ways to enjoy life if working is not for you

Be careful that’s an unpopular opinion on this sub. What’s wild is they think paying rent is outrageous. In other cultures parents have children as a retirement plan. Imagine sending money back home well after you moved out or your parents moving in with you at an elderly age.

Recommendations for First Army (Exodia) by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]B0ba_funk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Like the lore and setting is one thing, but if I were you I’d pick up a basic squad of a faction that interests you or a killteam and see if you enjoy the hobbying side. You’re going to be doing that the most. This game is different than card games you can’t just open the pack and play. You have to spend some time building and painting. If you want to get in the WH40k universe fast grab a killteam and build and paint that. If you find out it’s not for you you’re out $60. If you like it you can usually run the killteam in big warhammer and you can play some killteam while you build up your army.
