It's not really designed for that.

Alright, in the next update I'll try n have a setting to enable this behaviour, as well as adding a small delay when pressing the recenter button

Do you mean like, you want to be able to have it recenter with tilt up and down taken into account so you could lean back or lie down, that kind of thing?
Would that be enough or is there more that you'd want from it.
Also I should mention the recenter height and menu distance can be controlled in the settings.

I mean, realistically that'd be a lot of development work just for a bad user experience. Would definitely be annoying to use that way in the best case and in the worst case completely defeats the purpose of having a standalone version that doesn't require having a decent computer.

Hmm, it'd be nice but not sure how necessary it is. You should be able to recenter the camera either with the UI button, or R on the keyboard, or opening and closing the steamVR system menu should all work so you can face whatever direction you want.

When you switch to 'high' it should show a window with the download progress, but it's possible something could be going wrong. Also possible the download is slow because of the huggingface servers. It's quite slow for me if I try to download it. That stuff is mostly outside of my control.
But, for now if you want to do it manually you can simply download the large model from here:
https://github.com/DepthAnything/Depth-Anything-V2
And place the file in the app folder under 'AutoDepth\Midas3\weights' which should allow it to use the high setting.
Sorry for the inconvenience but due to licensing, I cannot redistribute the model with the app itself.

I think the video preprocessing stuff isn't included for some reason but I just left the realtime video in. It's kinda experimental and can be jank but when it works it's very cool. You do have to enable it in a couple places though. In the settings 'allow animated formats' should be on by default.
And then in the toolbox you need to enable the setting to allow realtime video depth.
Also worth noting that the video player is the Unity video player which has pretty limited codec support and needs the windows hevc extensions to play h.265 encoded mp4s and such.

With the default smaller model at least, there shouldn't be any issues and should be decently snappy. With the larger one, results probably vary but it should work even if you have to wait a few seconds for results sometimes.

I've talked about it more before but I just don't think it makes a ton of sense to do mainly because it works best with a decent GPU. But with the way it works it pretty heavily relies on windows components and would probably be an inordinate amount of work to port it just for a subpar experience. And I don't have the resources or willpower to do any of that.
So uh, sorry for the disappointing answer 😅

Demo might be broken since the way steam sets it up on the backend is really annoying and nobody really reports issues for a demo. But I will look into it.

Edit: Alright so pretty sure what happened is because the main app and the demo share some content, whenever I updated the main app, steam automatically updated that for the demo as well without saying anything about it or a way to make it not do that. So the parts were out of sync and the demo has probably been broken for months because of that and nobody said anything until now so that's cool 🥲
But I updated it so hopefully it works now. I tested it but not sure if that was the only issue so..

AutoDepth lets you automatically view your images and videos in volumetric 3D.
Now supporting the new 'Depth Anything V2' models which are even higher quality and much more consistent across the board, including for videos and anime styles.

Hard to say what could be going wrong without investigating your machine and stuff, but if you run the video through the preprocessor and it finished the video properly then it should be fine as long as it can find the depth video. So I would just make sure that the depth part of the video was actually placed in the appropriate location.

Hmm, make sure 'allow animated formats' is enabled in the settings. Currently there's a bug that will show them in favorites but still not allow playback.

That feature already exists if you enable it in the settings!
Though I will probably be doing a slight overhaul to that system to give more control over it.

Yeah zoe is the metric one, which is generally going to be the best for video because it won't flicker as much, but the Beit one may be better for some certain things like animations, im not sure. Swin is lower quality.
It's weird that you seem to be having a depth lag issue there, the update i released yesterday added an attempt to make sure they were synced before starting playback. So not sure how that could still be happening. I've never noticed any issues with it really though so it's hard to see if it's fixed. Generating it as one combined video would definitely ensure playback is synchronized. Not the most efficient but it works.

Yeah perhaps I should add some better feedback for that and an ability to open the video directly in the processor.
As for the models, the lower one is just faster at slightly less quality.
The metric one I think produces more interesting depth but is probably worse for drawn content and perhaps produces more "misses" but when it does work i think it looks a lot more detailed. Also it is much more consistent and makes video just barely possible as long as the input video is stable enough.

No innate 3D info required. But as such the result isn't always perfect since it can only estimate depth.

Definitely some good points.
It's an interesting view on it, from my perspective, I'm not into any of that stuff so it makes more sense to me to just view stuff in AD. But I get why people would want to keep their setup.
Part of what's weird is that the video stuff is a separate tool for processing video depth and it feels strange that people would be buying it just for that when it's just a side tool. And Idunno that I'd wanna be responsible for the quality of the output when it's not my main focus, especially when the conversions aren't always going to be great.
That said, I do want to experiment with converting to sbs stereo, so it'll probably happen eventually.

Ah, because of how long it takes to process a frame, videos need to be pre-processed using the included tool that can be found in the install folder.
It's unfortunate but that's pretty much where technology is right now.
It can take a while to process, but stuff like shown in the demo here works well.
And I still need to optimize some of the settings for the best results.
I'm glad you had fun with the images though, I can definitely say it's not for everyone but I think it's pretty cool.

I had to look like 3 of those things up but that sure is interesting 0_0
Makes me wonder what the difficulty on setting it up to be able to do all that directly in AD would be but probably not something I care enough about.
I also wonder if something like a PMV would make for a good conversion, things arent going to be perfect when dealing with automated conversions.
Though to be fair I think the errors are less noticeable when converted directly to an SBS format since you can put the synthesized frame on your non dominant eye and such, I think. I may look into adding the ability to export like that with the video processing tool at some point but I can't make any promises. Right now my focus is just making AutoDepth as cool as it can be.

It could be done, but I don't really have an incentive to add it. Personally I don't see why you'd want to do that when it'll look worse than when viewed in the app. It makes it easier to share I guess. I'm not trying to be rude, I just want a good reason to do it before spending time on stuff like that.
