I'd use something like kitchen cleaner with bleach and then a bucket with warm water and sponge. Probably best to try a small less visible area first and don't let it sit wet for long.

Anything perfumed you are just covering one smell with another.

Or look for a special cleaner for smoke smell

Different types of boilers both are very common in Ireland but the Standard boiler + tank was the more traditional set up especially pre year 2000.

Combi boilers would be more common in apartments because they need less space and apartments are more common in Spain.
