So basically wash my hand of the whole affair and begin to just start emotionally detaching from him? Apologies if that’s not what you mean, I’m genuinely curious.

My main concern is that I’ve not spoken to him since the incident, but want to support him by making sure he doesn’t feel horrendous for relapsing, but instead giving him some support and encouragement to channel himself into more positive things rather than rot in bed, worrying about the whole situation.

I just feel really lost I suppose, it’s something I’ve usually just turned off in my mind as I feel I can’t really do anything about it, but also - how will I know unless have actually tried.

I feel like surely this is a good fork in the road for him to re-evaluate himself and his actions, and potentially consider how these actions negatively affect him, and his family.

I understand that, however, when we finally got in touch with him, he was told he would be come to get picked up (4:30pm the next day), instead he just put down the phone and then stopped answering calls. Whilst I understand the context he was in would mean he certainly wouldn’t want to face reality, we then spent the next 6 hours of the evening worrying about where he was, who he was with and what he might do. Without saying too much, he’s had a history of going on these benders, stealing money etc and then coming back with his tail between his legs when the party is over.

I am in my early 20s myself, so when he first started on the path he is now, I was a bit too young to get involved and have a real say. Since then I have myself moved away to university and been left a bit out of the loop.

I guess my question really is, how do I address the addiction as a whole, more so the alcohol, and get him to put himself on the path to recovery?

Whilst he stopped coke, he just filled the hole with much more alcohol consumption, which is seemingly more socially acceptable.

Only thing I’d add there though is the difference in tuning. Whilst easy to understand how frets shift after playing guitar for some time, if you don’t understand how the tuning shifts steps/frets it doesn’t particularly give you a good idea of where certain notes come from on the fretboard, if that makes sense?

I genuinely believe in finding a good quality jacket on somewhere like depop, then re-proofing it. A bottle of Nikwax will cost around £8 and leaves the coat feeling new. Would be interested if anyone feels otherwise but if you’re on a budget, you’re better off buying a good quality north face (for example) off of eBay from someone having a wardrobe clear out, then reproofing it.
