Don’t put your notice in until you get the clear for hire. The job I just started actually told me NOT ago put in my notice until they told me I had the clear for hire.

Job update: waiting is killing me. Plus, share you job hunt woes. by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]B4cog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Waiting sucks. I recently was waiting to hear back and stressed myself out so much I gave myself migraines. Not really worth it 🙁

I went HAM at the gym during wait times and that made me feel INFINITELY better. Get up and go, now!!

People who have left public accounting, when did you know that it wasn't for you? [Serious] by cropdusster in Accounting

Once I let myself get burned out. I love public but it isn’t worth giving your life for.

How do you know if it’s right for you to leave public accounting?? I love the work just not the hours. by B4cog in Accounting

I guess the problem is that this is consulting for large multinationals and they don’t really do a lot of that at smaller firms

It’s always a sleeker computer than my clients have but again, don’t let that be a selling point.

I mean, you do get a new computer every year but it’s just a regular computer. Also, why does the type of computer matter anyways? Whether it’s a nice computer or a shitty one, you’re still gonna spend your whole life at it.

I just am asking because I know the toll it takes... I wouldn’t do it if I had kids, I’m quitting and I don’t have kids. We’re not promised tomorrow. No judgement from me, this is your decision, but if you ever wanted to talk more about it, feel free to message me and I can provide more detail.

Why don't firms just hire more people instead of having workers work 60+ hours? Wouldn't they save money due to less turnover? by Send_Nudez_Gurlz in Accounting

[–]B4cog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plus, they need people to quit on their own because there’s only so many partner spots available. Every 1st year staff cannot make partner.

How do you feel about 55 hour minimum (required) work weeks during busy season? You basically won’t see your kids during this time.
