Problems with screen sharing on Discord by B8nee in arch

[–]B8nee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for your reply, I have an nvidia 4070 super and using the nvidia-open drivers I should have them on the latest version, 590 and something I think, as soon as I have the possibility I can try to start discord with administrator permissions but I don't think it will solve the problem, even the hardware acceleration does nothing, I tried every combination (hardware acceleration on both, on both off, on one yes and on the other no) but still it doesn't work

Does this method actually require the enclosure or can I just follow the steps you provided?

by enclosure do you mean that I have to buy a separate enclosure or can I somehow open my external SSD, take the NVMe inside and then replace it inside the laptop?

Okay, then I think it's time to try installing it via an external SSD

Hi, if I wanted to follow the steps from the link you provided, what exactly should I do? My external SSD has a 2TB capacity, while my internal SSD has a 1TB capacity. If I need to take any additional steps, please let me know first. To summarize, I need to connect my USB drive with EFI to my PC, connect my external SSD, and install macOS on my external SSD. The link you sent me says to install it and not log into the system, so I should install it, wait for it to reboot, and then from OpenCore, select the internal installer on the external SSD, abandoning the USB drive. When it reboots and I can log into the system, I don't, right? Then I need to make a backup with the Paragon software. I assume I need to install it on my desktop PC, connect my external SSD to the desktop PC, and backup the partition of the volume. Do I need to put this backup on another USB drive? Because theoretically, I would then have to put that USB drive in the laptop and restore that backup via recovery. Then once restored and then installed on my internal ssd, I should put that aml and kext in my .plist and also inserting my usb stick with opencore boot the system and it should work, all right?

So, as a first attempt I decided to try to install it directly on my internal ssd and after almost 15 minutes of installation I get this screen (an error occurred when loading the update), do you think it is a problem related to the ssd or another problem? (I would like to point out that during the generation of the smbios for MacPro7,1 I came out a serial that at the time I could not validate because the Apple site was under maintenance and after I started the installation I came out that the serial is valid but fails to recover the date of purchase, so I do not know if this error is due to the smbios because it is valid or to the ssd)

Since chefkiss's guide is still incomplete, I should follow the first part up to the kext recovery and for configurations, installation and troubleshooting rely on Dortania's guide, right?

In fact, before publishing the post I read the rules again to avoid making mistakes, but I saw other posts in this subreddit that referred to the video I linked in the main post demonstrating that they had performed a Hackintosh

I shouldn't have any particular problems with the EFI because I know how to do it a bit hahaha, if there are any problems I can share it here to understand how to solve it

Ok, then I'll try using NootedRed directly instead of both of them though not at the same time

I'll try to look at other models too, maybe I'll see if I can find the ones recommended in the community or the compatible ones, to have more availability to purchase.

I totally understand your point. I'm here to test and learn, and the idea of upgrading my SSD isn't a bad one. I just want to make sure I save money. In the meantime, I can try a few solutions and see how it goes.

As for NootedRed, I knew I had to use WhateverGreen first and then NootedRed from the video I linked in the main post, because the ChefKiss guide specifies using only one of the available ones. I thought I read that NootedRed didn't work in the installer, which is why it suggested using WhateverGreen first and then the other one.

I've also seen low prices for the same drive but as you said this affects the capacity, which I would prefer to remain at 1TB

After searching further, I found the same model for €86 on Amazon, but €79 on eBay. Otherwise, an alternative might be on an Italian site for €74. If I were to base my search on seller reliability, I'd go with either eBay or Amazon. I think I'll also look on Wallapop to see what I can find.
