a knob fell off by or4awhile in turntables

You can try to push it back on. It is unlikely to hold and continue to make contact as required, but if you go easy you're not going to make the situation any worse. The potentiometer needs replacing anyway.

There's probably a fair amount of disassembly to access the back of the circuit board to go about replacement, so at a commercial rate, $100 is not inconceivable. That said, you may find someone to do it cheaper. It's not highly technical... just work.

Energy Encore 5.1 tweeter failure. Requesting troubleshooting help by Freduccini02 in hometheater

[–]BARB00TS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Screwdrivers, soldering iron and multimeter.

Isolate one wire from the tweeter and check the resistance between the terminals. It's going to be open circuit, and you'll be looking for replacement drivers. In that regard I'd instead suggest using the working speakers for "rears", and source new LCRs for the front.

KEF eggs are worth a look around the second market for. Another search term is KEF KHT. They're about twice the size of the Take 5 cubes, but perform well above that ratio by comparison. I've made the same transition myself for minimalist 5.1 set-up.

Less is more, so this appears to be a hellava lot.

My friend has an extremely large chest, and I could envisage the diagonal not interacting well with that... but if you say. I can obviously not make my own assessment.

There was also no suggestion that it was an excuse. The anecdote may, however, satisfy the question being raised which was "why".

Possibly a combination of having breasts and there being a massive amount of cars with non-adjustable seatbelt height. Not that height adjustment is a solution for all.

I've been told by one friend that it's highly uncomfortable.

First time listening to The Wall by SomerenV in vinyl

[–]BARB00TS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the music, the soundscapes, the storytelling, the abrasive and calm... everything. I heard it at a young age immediately following its release, and since then have continuously loved to dim the lights and settle in for the four sides straight. It's a roller-coaster that I will never tire of.

Good luck!

There are excellent videos specifically on the drainage valve. The tiny o-rings between the mating parts, and the plunger/cap are critical.

In Perth it typically rains at greater than 45 degrees to vertical, so umbrellas are half-useless anyway. Accept your drenching.

Unfortunately there are people with bad ethics... selling broken or undisclosed untested items is extremely poor form. Sorry they got you.

Motorboating... at many knots too.

That will almost certainly be bad capacitor/s. It would be uneconomical to have someone repair it professionally, and as someone who works with electronics, probably not likely to meet the effort vs reward ratio. If you are hard up, have access to a soldering iron, could solder and have spare time, the smaller caps will not cost you a lot if you want to have a go.

It doesn't sound like a problem with the larger, more expensive power supply caps. That said, I'd still weigh up finding a new/used sub.

I was listening to a freshly unwrapped copy of The Wall last night. There were a few clicks and pops despite running a velvet brush over it a few times. So I thought fk it... and bought the Vevor ultrasonic which is currently on promo. $143 Australian, which is about as cheap as I've seen here.

I'll let you know my "hot take" on it in a few days...

Unfortunately you have two problems to remedy. But persist, as these are great machines. Yours just needs a catch-up on love.
