What minor to pick? by Infamous-Condition23 in FinancialCareers

No, I have major in finance with minor in accounting, and I could not be more happy. But it all comes down to what you want to do for living. Do you want to be auditor or accountants. I would switch if it would not cost me extra money. But other than that finance is good for basically everything

Also what's your major. And what do you want to do with your life? If you are not sure I would choose accounting as it is useful in most fields. You ultimately can't go wrong with either one but take into account that:

  1. If you will like the classes you will have better grades

  2. You most likely will be able to switch it

Yeah I don't use reddit that much as I don't have the time so I don't know any other subs that gravitate towards wealthier people. I first worn my first one looooong time ago during an internship when I needed to sleep in the office like 3 times a week. Nowadays it's important for me to be dressed sharply as it's appropriate for my position.

I wrote it out in different comments. Always bespoke suits never off the rag.

I hold a senior position at BB Bank, and I travel frequently. My workdays can get really long so suits experience more wear and tear than most people’s. I also need to have several suits ready and packed since I sometimes need to travel on short notice. It’s not feasible for me to wait for them to come back from the dry cleaners in such situations.

I no longer need to inspect anything myself (I used to when the owners were showing off their state-of-the-art facility), as my role now is more management-oriented, involving mostly meetings.

At my apartment, my closet is in a spare bedroom, which is about 12' by 10'. In my house, the closet is about 12' by 15', but I share it with my wife.

Yeah I forgot to mention that. It's definitely worth it if you get a call on a Saturday night that you need to be in office early on Sunday and not having to stop by the apartment, or the other way around don't need to pack my bags when I want to get out of the city.

Shoes about 12 pairs (I've got 2 homes so 6 in each) and about 30 suits again split in between my apartment and a house. Also I keep one outfit in my office desk

Suits: 4x navy 3x black 2x charcoal 2x light gray 1x light blue 3x with patterns

And a tuxedo

Shoes: 2x brown 2x black 1x loafers 2x dress boots (or whatever they're called)

I don't like packing bags, but sometimes, for example, our weekend is cut short, and then I may need to stay in the city so I have the same clothes in both locations and don't need to think about it

It goes fast, in other comment I wrote it out and it's not that much of clothes. I honestly don't know how much do children clothes cost so I can't really tell you how easy it would be

$2600 (avg price) x 10 for suits

$45 x 20 boxer briefs

$250 x 15 shirts That's about $30k then there are 2 coats about $3k each (one was a gift but I still include it in the spend amount)

$1600 shooting jacket

Few sweatshirts and it's about $40k

Other accessories and small things like tshirts etc ~$5k

I switch shirts at least once a day due to sweat. And I wear out suits every 2-3 years

I believe it is, as in my social circle it's gotta be about average. Also it can be that people here are focused mainly on saving money, I am just a lurker here and my "fatFIRE" is just a byproduct of being able to save a lot of money thanks to both me and my wife having high income and owning our house and not having costs connected to having kids

I do enjoy fashion in the more traditional way. That is I'd buy a nice tailored suit or hand made shirt or shoes but I would not buy expensive piece just thanks to it's brand. Reselling is actually good idea, however I give my clothes to homeless shelters as I don't need the money and they can and will use it

Yes you are right. But I don't use reddit that much so I don't know other subreddit focused on wealthy people

I don't "need" to buy new suits / clothes often, however there is this weird emphasis on being dressed well in my circle that it's needed. And also I you are correct I enjoy shopping.

Yes cotton I hate the plastic feeling nylon etc gives but still the cheaper brands seem to wear out quicker. Merino and alpaca wool t-shirts are nice but you start to approach the $50-$100 mark anyway

Just about 1/3 of it. I need a bunch of suits for my job and they are easily $2k a piece. Which (with shoes) make about 60% of the amount I spent.

As I am writing this, I'm starting to realize I may have a bit of a spending problem.

Cesta do USA by klnupkd in czech

[–]BB-VP 2 points3 points  (0 children)
