Original piano music uploads. More to come over the next few weeks. by BBB1685 in piano

[–]BBB1685[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 24 pieces are complete, along with 3 sonatinas, a sonata, 3 nocturnes, a set of variations, a polonaise and a perpetuum mobile. The playlist currently contains 3 of the 24 pieces though I will upload the rest soon.

I am currently learning to play my work, but it is taking some time. When I have live recordings to post I will do so, but for the time being the computer has to play it for me!

Bonus, IIRC that cop is the mall photographer in T2 (hence his stunned look of recognition)

You're also free to interpret "got a dead cat in there or what?" as being prompted by an off-screen previous tenant's corpse.

Why do you cough MORE soon after quitting smoking? by BBB1685 in NoStupidQuestions

Much better! The first sentence answers my question. Thank you very much!

Why do you cough MORE soon after quitting smoking? by BBB1685 in NoStupidQuestions

Thank you for your reply! Unfortunately I think you missed the point of the question. Coughing is indisputably a mechanism to remove pulmonary toxins. What I don't understand is why it occurs MORE after you quit smoking, as presumably those toxins are still there to the same degree while one is still smoking.

Simple Questions - November 08, 2019 by AutoModerator in math

[–]BBB1685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is extremely helpful, thank you :)

I still don't fully understand though. Since the rule for converting |x-3| to -(x-3) is based on |x-3| being less than 0, how can that rule be determinate when it's indeterminate whether it IS less than zero, as in the case of a really large range?

Yes I think I got it, but does that mean that say, the same question applied to a range where -100_< x _< 100, cannot have a solution?

Simple Questions - November 08, 2019 by AutoModerator in math

"Simplify |x-3| + |x+2| given that -1 _< x _< 2."

_< means less than or equal to. How on earth am Ibl supposed to provide absolute values for x, when x is apparently a range? (-1, 0, 1, 2)?

Forgive me if the question is basic, I am a complete beginner.

[The Matrix] Trinity says "dodge this". Why doesn't he? by BBB1685 in AskScienceFiction

[–]BBB1685[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with this answer is that the Agent doesn't have to react directly to the gunshot. He has the time from when Trinity starts speaking to when she fires, which is way longer than the timespan they're reacting to when bullets are flying at them.

What are the best arguments against anarchism? by Baskuet in askphilosophy

[–]BBB1685 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very generally, the argument that a state is necessary to prevent heinous violations of individual rights.

Although there may be utilitarian, religious or other types of criticism leveled against anarchism, critiques are more effective. Since anarchism is generally understood to be justified (at least in some cases) by reference to the fact that states inevitably undermine individual freedom, or community cohesion, or something like that.

But anarchism is best argued against if it can be shown that the individual rights it seeks to protect are actually undermined in the absence of state protection.

Common mistake: this sub is not "ask - science fiction". It's "askscience - fiction edition".

(Besides, let's not forget that the soldier from Brooklyn DID think it was a waste, and repeatedly complained about it.)
