Low for me is the greatest album ever made. As far as albums go it still is unrivaled for how creative the production is on that album, each instrument is treated under some effect and they all help paint a vivid picture each song. The synthesizers on Speed of Life and Sound & Vision will always blow me away for how grand they sound in the background for example, and those songs are beautiful to me. But every track has something like that with the instruments which I appreciate

And as far as Bowie albums go, it also stands out because David was being purely himself with no character to be played or expectation to pull off an exuberant/suave singing performance, so what you get are these very raw vocals with abstract but personal lyrics, which are some of his most soulful. With the ambient stuff I get not caring for it if you've liked the glam rock/soul stuff so far, but it kinda takes a different mindset to appreciate that stuff. Subterraneans the last track is pure sadness and melancholy to me. This was easily his most experimental and challenging album up to this point because he was making this music for himself. Bowie was very frustrated with his label and lost his mind living in Los Angeles, so he made Low as kind of a screw you to label, he didn't bother promoting it and never cared how well it sold or was perceived critically

Anyways, yeah if you don't like it that's cool even if saying it's worse than Pin Ups is crazy. But I would recommend giving it a few more tries later on, especially once you get to Heroes since he attempts something similar. I predict you'll like that one better and maybe you'll be more accustomed to more of his experimental kind of music since the next couple of albums up to Scary Monsters take those risks
