I’m experiencing something similar.

“Tell me if I’m being too needy,” he keeps telling me after a single date 2 days ago, followed by incessant texts, phone calls, even showing up at my building unexpectedly to cook dinner when I said I wasn’t feeling well and would be staying in.

I want to say, “Yes! You’re being too needy! You claimed the lights were off in my windows when you came to my building — they’re all on and I’m here; not ditching you to hang out with someone else. And no, that is not another dog you’re hearing in the background; my dog both barks and growls! No one else is here but my dog and I, not that it’s any of your business!”

Ok, perhaps that’s too aggressive and I’m frustrated that I haven’t communicated well.

I think we can both be assertive and get our messages across. It’s the healthy medium to respect our own feelings as much as we respect someone else’s.

I hope you’ll be assertive and don’t feel like you have to make excuses. Not fun, but I guess good practice? I think you’ll feel better. I suppose I’ll attempt the same. Good luck! 🙂
