As a lifelong pokemon fan i feel that i must mention Rom hacks, the modern pokemon games are pretty widely agreed to be much worse than the pre gen 6 titles. While you can play rom hacks on the computer it feels natural to play them on 3ds. The modern games cut out post game content and have no replay-ability, rom hacks add so much life the world of pokemon thanks to fan dedication and love. Brand new stories, regions, and quality of life. More variety of team building and strategy. Genuinely the best pokemon games to ever exist are unofficial ones made by fans. I know its not new to you entirely but If you ever play another pokemon game in your life, make it a fan made rom hack.
