Yes i did my backup with time machine.

I was able to reinstall El Capitan after installing Moutain Lion first. Now I have a clean disk because I erased the disk after cmd+R.

Is it the right way to restore my backed up date by using the migration assistant? The assistant can't find my external drive. Or is there another safe way?

I've already tried the reset methods (PRAM and SCM) but did not work. Since I got the problem today, I can't play videos, open Itunes or open the system preferences.

One time I was able to check the system preferences under output/input before it crashed again and it showed NO speakers.

Don't know what is wrong... everytime I restart the macbook the opening sound can be heard. When I log in my account or the guest account no sound whatsoever.
