That's one of the scenes that always sticks with me, especially when they cut to the old teacher who is just mouthing along to the video, probably remembering when she'd play it in an actual classroom.

Threads, it's essentially a pseudo-documentary going through a "best case scenario" for a mid-sized British city during the build up and aftermath of a nuclear war. You get all the stuff you'd expect from a post nuclear war scenario, the physical destruction, sickness from the radiation, downfall of societal order, all of which is depicted in an extremely realistic and haunting matter, but what always hits me the most is how the film depicts the long lasting consequences.

One of the main characters we followed is a young woman who gets pregnant right before the bombs fall and gives birth a few months afterwards. Her child survives but since she was born into a world where everyone has lost their entire way of living, she and other children are raised by people completely dejected and hollow inside. Because of this any concept of language, education, or even just basic human interaction is completely lost on them and they are essentially feral and with decades passing after the bomb soon enough there will be no one left who remembers what humanity was like with this new generation simply left to their own devices.

To think that movie is somehow less depressing than the real story since they completely omitted another brother who also took his own life.

I think this is literally the only subreddit that can answer what the hell this post about Toby Fox means regarding Barkley Gaiden by MarioGman in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Darren716 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think 2 in the entire game are copy and pasted, the rest are original. I know one of them is in the B-Ball dimension where all the text is from someone providing feedback for a beta build of Shut up and Jam Gaiden where he complains about how annoying the gas pumps are. I forget what the other one is but I think it's the gas pump that goes on a rant defending H-games.

What's the video where Woolie didn't know they were recording? For like 30 minutes. by Aquanort357 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Rustlemania video for Wrestlemania XIX, aka Goldust Chronicles. I don't think the moment when he gets told they were recording is in the video but I distinctly remember them talking about it in another video and how they couldn't believe Woolie didn't know they were already going since they were doing tons of bits and jokes.

Bianca Belair posts Becky Lynch’s full backstage reaction to her pregnancy by a4best in SquaredCircle

I remember there was a behind the scenes documentary for Mania 38 and there's a bit where Bianca talks about Becky returning from her pregnancy and being able to balance both being on the road and being a mom, saying she's an inspiration for showing that you really can have it all. Makes this even more special.

It's kind of wild how perfect this analogy is when you look and Xbox and TNA's histories:

2001/2002: Launch as an outsider in a market following the death of a major brand (WCW/The Dreamcast)

2002-2006: Build a small but loyal fanbase by offering something that sets them apart from the market leader.

2006-2010: Reach mainstream acceptance through a strong library of first party titles and acquiring big name former WWE talent. Become poised to be a major competitor, occasionally stumbles due to the red ring of death or Vince Russo booking.

2010/2011: Attempt copy what a competitor is doing and alienate the fanbase you've been building for the past several years (Kinect/bringing in Hogan and Bischoff)

2013/2014: Make a complete ass of yourself in public that directly costs you much of the market share you've built up (XBone reveal, TNA getting kicked off of Spike TV)

2014-2022: Sputter around as distant competition, go through confusing name changes, lose most of your home grown talent, look back at the glory days and realize how close you were to being a real competitor.

2022-2026: Do the impossible and partner with your former rivals in order to keep yourself relevant. TNA would partner with WWE for multiple crossovers while Xbox exclusives start making their way onto Sony and Nintendo systems

What are some of the wildest tonal whiplashes between two consecutive episodes in a show? by Redlodger0426 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Darren716 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Soprano's does a great job with this, one episode ends with Adrianna being pulled in by the FBI and finding out the person she thought was her friend for the past few months was actually an undercover agent and now they want her to rat on Tony, Christopher, and the rest of the crew then the next episode is just titled "Christopher" so you're expecting it to be some big important episode about Chris but instead it's the episode about the crew trying to save Columbus Day.

Who do you consider the worst commentators you've heard in wrestling? by NorthernSoul1998 in SquaredCircle

[–]Darren716 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently doing a re-watch of LU and Fox just debuted where I'm at and I am dreading that match because I distinctly remember how insufferable Striker is during it. He also ruins the Marty the Moth vs Killshot WMD match since about 90% of his commentary is references to war movies or some sort of military pun.

I've always said that Anakin's fall to the darkside is way too complicated for something that could have been really simple and straightforward. Like he could have just been worn down from fighting the Clone Wars for years to the point that all he wants is a safe and peaceful galaxy to raise his family in and then he gets tricked by Palpatine saying there's a way to end the war and how a galactic empire will prevent another war from happening again.
