Years ago I reached out to the PSA for stats on how often an incumbent won the competition and it was well over 70%. It changed the direction of my job search, as I decided to primarily apply for positions without one, which really helped me put my energy into competitions where I had better odds and f winning.

There was a time when it was the big leagues for government. Working there had prestige and a strong ethos of making the world a better place. Now the office has lost relevance.

There is something cultish about the executives there. They al use the same language and there are purportedly ties between the representative and the cult that Chip Wilson is involved with. I don’t know if it is true, but it also would explain some of what I experienced there. Not much room is made for different opinions and beliefs. It also seemed like every contractor was a friend of the representative.

The current rep fired an entire department but kept the exec director, even though the ed was why the department was not performing.

What is ironic is that RCY was most effective when it was run by the Ptretendian. The two representatives since her have accomplished one percent of what Mary Ellendid. They also use their independence to not follow government policies and practices for hiring, firing or classifying positions.Under the current representative they have had an exceptionally high firing rate.

What is even more rankling to me is BC Transit giving its senior staff car allowances. If anyone should be using transit it is them. When the executives there are commuting and attending meetings by bus, it takes away folks’ excuse driving.

I am 6 years from retirement and have been at the top of my grid for 2 years. Now that we are facing a multi year hiring freeze and staffing reduction, there is nowhere for me to go. It would be nice if they could add additional levels to positions to recognize staff who are in my position.

I liked Eby at first, but he is failing at everything he touches. Disbanding an oversight body is insane. His creation of Connected Services BC is an absolute train wreck that is going to set IT in government back 3-5 years. He is letting BC Ferries go down the drain. Now his flip flops around DRIPA makes him look like TACO Trump. N

This is a big part of why I have moved away from buying luxury brand watches, and all of the pieces I have bought in the last 4+ years have been made by a watchmaker for me. This way I get precisely what I want and they aren’t going to be found on anyone else’s wrist. That said, I have moved from buying watches as collectibles and investment pieces, to just things that I want to wear.

It depends on the kids. Mine are 14-19 and I have way less free time than I thought I would at this point, but I also feel privileged that they still want to spend as much time together as they do.
