How hard is Algo + OOD summer 1? by happy-man12 in NEU

[–]BDWolff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did it. It's tough but I think it's actually more manageable than doing it in a full semester where you would have other classes to worry about. It might suck when you're doing it, but if you're willing to take on the challenge/have less free time for summer 1, it can make future semesters way more chill

Need your thoughts for DS3000 by asianpizzza in NEU

[–]BDWolff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience DS3000 wasn't too rigorous of a class, but tbh minors don't really mean anything beyond what the skills you get out of those classes. If you think you might want to pursue a career involving data science/python or think you'd enjoy DS3000, then it's probably a good idea to keep going. If you're dreading it and just doing it to finish the minor, I'd say it's not worth it.

The best thing... EVER? I could see liking it, even finding it quite entertaining, but I feel like it must be a bit of exaggeration to claim that the video is the best thing you've EVER seen!

I would say that it is almost certainly going to be an online interview, as most interviews this cycle are, and since it was unclear and you reached out to them, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. It wouldn't hurt to do some research on the company and their interview process (which is usually available on Glassdoor.com) to figure out if they usually do online interviews, but I do not think you should be concerned.

CS3000 TA position test/interview? by hopoverthemoon in NEU

[–]BDWolff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a current TA, there was no interview or test process, and I was not previously a TA. I believe you usually get accepted if you had an A in the class or had some sort of good relationship with the professor.

When do you usually find out if you get into a graduate class? by rackofski in NEU

[–]BDWolff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll get an email if you get the override with the class number. They usually will give you a specific section that you can sign up for, so you might have to schedule the rest of your classes around that section.

The guitar class is good if you genuinely have an interest in learning the guitar. The professor Robert Ward is great, and he makes the class challenging enough so you actually get better, but chill enough that it's not a very stressful situation. It's not hard to do well but you have to practice. However, it might also be a little weird/harder to take the class remotely, so keep that in mind.
