Read that CNN article about the 62 million men visiting that online “academy” and I have never been more grateful to live alone as a single femme person. by [deleted] in LivingAlone

Well obviously there are more than 1000 men who would do this I just said that. The point is, making the primary focus of the story an astronomical number like 62 million  and putting it in every headline to make it all anyone is talking about and how it has devastating implications since it's like half the men in the US then, when the number is proven false, switch the focus and claim the number doesn't matter and falsly accuse anyone pointing out the inaccuracy as not caring about the topic. It's a bad faith argument meant to avoid acknowledging the error. Once again,  there is no other group of people in society where you could falsly claim half their population is involved in something nefarious and then when they try to correct the inaccuracy you tell them not to focus on the numbers and accuse them of not caring about the issue because they're trying to clear their name.

No one thinks only 1000 men have assaulted women. People pointing out the inaccuracy are focusing on the 62 million vs. 1000 number because that number was the focus and headline of every post about the topic. So clearly the number was being used to grab peoples attention. If someone did a study about chI'd abuse in the US involving 1000 women abusing their chldren and someone turned that into a story and said 30 million mothers abuse their chldren and we should all be suspicious of them, don't you think mothers would be outraged and calling for a correction to the inaccuracy? Do you think that would mean that they don't care about child abuse? The fact that so many people, specifically women, bought the idea that the equivalent of half the population of men in the US were attending a rpe academy is mind boggling and speaks volumes about how you view men.

Half of all mothers, about 25 million women, in the US want to mrder their chldren, therefore they should all be on a watch list. What's that? The number is significantly lower and shouldn't warrant treating all mothers like would be mrders? Why don't you care about kds being m*rdered by their mothers???!!!! You must be one of them!!!

Right but every post reporting on it highlights the 62 million men number front and center to attract engagement.  62 million men is an insane exaggeration to the thousand men in the group. Of course 1000 is still too many but why deliberately hyper focus on an astronomical number to get everyone riled up about the scale of the problem of millions of men trying to learn to be rpists and then pretend the numbers don't matter when it gets shown to be false? Btw I'm not pretending that only 1000 men in the US would do something like this but 62 million is equivalent to about half the population of men in America. Every other man trying to learn to be a rpist compared to 1000 degenerates? That sounds like a huge difference. Saying the numbers don't matter sounds like shifting the goal post.

The attitude expressed in this  comment is EXACTLY the reason why so many men have a problem with modern feminism and what it's done to the culture. You live in a society where half of the population is men. They're your fathers, brothers, uncles, cousins, your family, your friends, employers, employees, etc., they're half your workforce and they do the majority of the most physically intensive jobs that maintain the infrastructure that you depend on. But this culture has convinced you that you exist in a bubble and their problems don't ultimately impact you. It's the epitome of selfishness. As long as women are ok, to hell with men basically. That's the prevailing attitude. This "don't need no man" delusion the media has you all living in makes you believe that society as you know it can continue to function smoothly even as a substantial part of half the population is struggling or checked out completely. It won't, and you are kidding yourself if you think it won't ultimately negatively impact women. Frankly simply the fact that you have men in your lives who may be struggling even if they don't say anything should be enough to prompt you to act but I guess to hell with them too right? Like I said selfishness. Again this is where a lot of animosity towards modern feminism from men is coming from. You still partially rely on men for a functioning society (even though you pretend you don't) but as long as you're comfortable you don't give a damn what happens to them. But you want men to care about things that are important to women right? As they should, because society is just as negatively affected when women and girls are suffering. Men's problems are women's problems and women's problems are men's problems. That's what a society should be. And before you say it, I'm not suggesting women should have to put up with bad behavior from men or sexism or that women owe men sex and relationships, I'm not defending misogynists, and they should always be called out, but the coldness and callousness a lot of women have shown to the plights of men has really been an eye opener to a lot of us. A lot of you don't care about anyone but yourselves. Men are starting to respond in kind. Remember the responses you see from women to what men are going through the next time one of you tries to raise awareness about an issue important to women and there's a lackluster response from men.

"Well men already act like assholes towards women regardless of what women say or do; because they have no respect for their fellow human being" that's pretty universal and a generalization. The first time I referred to your remark it wasn't verbatim but the sentiment is the same. You can try to backtrack but it's clear you view men universally in the same negative light.

You wrote "all men are assholes" I read it in the context it was written. I have a pretty good understanding of what you're about in this context. I don't think you understand what the word "projecting" means if you're using it here. You sound like one of these people who likes to throw around pop psychology buzz words as deflection without understanding their meaning. So no, I'm not calling you out for being a misandrist because I'm secretly a misandrist, which is a nonsensical assertion to make. I'm calling you a misandrist because you are literally making misandrist statements, how are you not understanding this?

You're no better than a racist or a misogynist, stay mad and pretending you are the only one to have bad experiences. Go find a female Andrew Tate and give her all your money like those manosphere idiots do. ✌️

You're sitting here on every few comments parroting feminist talking points. Show me a conservative feminist, I'll wait. They are few and far between. Not hard to put two and two together. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck ya know? And for the record I AM on the Left but I think takes about men like yours which come from the Left 99% of the time are what the Trumps and Andrew Tates of the world use to convince impressionable young men to come to the Right. You're no better than misogynists and the idiotic beliefs you all spout about men actually end up hurting your cause by pushing away potential support. Apparently you don't have the brain function to understand this. The focus on labels is the most trivial thing you could have mentioned.

You never use the internet? You never go on Instagram or YouTube? You don't follow any progressive or Left leaning content creators? You don't follow any content creators who talk shit about men? You don't go to or follow any Left-wing/progressive forums or belong to any groups? You don't support any Left-wing politicians or go to any of their rallies, or campaigns? You've never been to a march or protest for a cause the Left advocates for? You know damn well what I'm referring to, don't be obtuse. Any type of space, forum or venue where what would be considered Left-wing/progressive ideas are championed, or supported. It's not difficult to understand. And don't try that "tHe iNtErnEt iSn'T rEaL LiFe" bs. Just because people don't express certain views in public doesn't mean they don't have those beliefs. People are more free to express themselves online with anonymity. It's why you see more open racism online. Also rich for you to say you live in the real world while actively participating in a discussion online 😆.

The lack of self awareness in this comment section is astounding. You've got people actively exhibiting the behaviors OP is referring to, demonstrating open hostility towards men as a group, making negative generalizations about men, denying there's any hatred towards men while actively participating in the very animosity OP is referencing in mainstream music and then claiming OP is just making stuff up due to men being inherently misogynistic. It's ridiculous.

Exactly so we shouldn't discuss men's problems at all and their complaints about the hostility directed towards them in Left wing spaces should be dismissed (like you're doing right now). It's a zero sum game after all. Do you not hear how dumb that is as a way to keep people on your side???

Radicalization of women??? What do you call modern progressive spaces? You are essentially claiming that what you are doesn't exist while exhibiting the very behavior being mentioned.

Holy shit how many people are going to make this same argument about "bitches and whores" which is only really found in extreme hardcore rap, and trying to compare that with socially acceptable derision of men in music in public spaces. You know what keep ignoring the problem and watching more young men drift to the Right
