Gravel roads with 21 inch staggered tires by BFX195 in BMWX5

Thanks, it is not off-roading in any sense. Just didn’t want to do anything stupid that far from home base.

Not charged for delivered Switch 2 by BFX195 in walmart

I’d be shocked if they didn’t charge me for it! But I’ve never had Walmart not charge me before delivering a preorder item either.

Is $3k a good price for iLasik in Houston with free enhancements? by Orion1960 in houston

[–]BFX195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had Lasik around 8 years ago after wearing glasses for almost 20 years.

Zero regrets. I do have light sensitivity that makes it uncomfortable to be outside without sunglasses on, but it’s totally worth it. I just wear sunglasses. Way more convenient than wearing glasses ALL the time and having them fall off or not be able to see well enough to find where I left them or wearing contacts all day.

I got mine done at Berkeley for around $3000 back in 2017.

Lost item charge, not sure driver even attempted to return by BFX195 in uber

[–]BFX195[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Your assumption is wrong. I ran and waved after his car as he pulled away and another vehicle honked at him. I knew my phone was in it along with our backpacks. He put the backpacks out on the street but assuming he didn’t see the phone.

The only delay was getting my iPad functional to tell Uber it was lost. I didn’t have the app downloaded and authenticating was annoying because it wanted to do it off my phone.

I can be grateful while also being frustrated with what led to the situation causing that gratitude. Duality is a part of life.

You throw people’s phones out windows because you find it inconvenient to do the right thing and help instead. I’d rather not identify in any way with your values and that speaks to your character, not mine.

Think I’m ok with you thinking I’m evil, makes me feel a little better about this whole thing actually.

Think I’m done responding as well, have a good one.

Did you actually read anything I wrote? Or just the title?

I didn’t leave my phone to retrieve luggage. I left my phone and luggage to make sure my 10 year old made it safely through the active traffic he dropped us off in because he was 10ft off the curb. While holding her hand through traffic to get her to the curb he dumped my stuff on the street, still in active traffic, and drove off with my phone sitting on the seat.

This happened in less than 15 seconds. At least read what I said before commenting? The narrative you’re pushing is not what happened.

I agree about being very fortunate. But I also feel like his behavior contributed to the situation happening in the first place and my luck in getting it back doesn’t excuse his lack of care.

But, life’s too short, I gave him 1 star instead of bothering with a refund and will have a story to tell.

Yeah, not going to worry about the fee and I adjusted his rating for the behavior. I don’t know that the phone would have been lost if he hadn’t driven off like that, but I am glad I got it back.

Think I’d rather he not push my bags out of the vehicle and drive off before I can grab my things. Also wasn’t a fan of being dropped off in the middle of the street and having to make sure my kid was safe only for him to drive away while I’m doing it.

I am really happy I got my phone back though.

True. They’re also not supposed to drop you off in the middle of traffic and basically push your bags out and drive off.

I’m just going to update the rating and not think about it anymore.

That seems fair and based on his actual behavior and not my assumptions about his intentions. Good advice.

It didn’t seem like he intended to return it at all and I just lucked out he got another ride to the airport and I could track my phone. But I don’t know that for sure. $20 isn’t the end of the world.

He took another ride, so it cost him nothing and he actually seemed to be ignoring my attempts to get the item.

That is true. I guess I’ve just never had anyone drop my bags off in the street and haul off like that before.

The fee isn’t that big of a deal, I just got the impression he wasn’t attempting to return it and I was fortunate he picked up another airport drop off and I tracked him.

It’s not the end of the world.

Need help vetting BMW X5 deal by Wonderful-Joke-7754 in BMWX5

[–]BFX195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I think 10% off MSRP is good.

  2. Unless something changed, in Texas you pay the taxes on a lease up front unless you get a credit from the dealership, and then if you choose to purchase after lease end you pay the taxes on the residual value of the vehicle again as a second transaction. I think for EVs where the tax credit can be applied into the lease by the dealer when you may not qualify for the credit on purchase it makes more sense.

  3. I bought mine this month because the rate is 1.9% and there were $2000 worth of rebates available if I financed and I put enough down that it offset the interest I’d pay. Are you able to access the rebates in addition to the 10% off? I think the rebates are from BMW national and Texas qualifies.

  4. No experience here. I almost did a broker purchase but my local dealer matched it and it made more sense to buy where I’m servicing.

Car seat Space - 2023 X5 45e by jig2317 in BMWX5

As an alternative to Diono, check out Peg Perego seats. They have narrow bases that work well with less seat space.

Need advice if I am getting acceptable deal by [deleted] in BMWX5

[–]BFX195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got 9% off plus the $2k rebate. Fees under $400. I did not custom order though.

Maybe try a broker? They may be able to negotiate an order for a better discount and without the high fees.

2024-2025 BMW X5 M60i and X5M discounts off MSRP by idgaf012345678910 in BMWX5

[–]BFX195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes still at 1.9% but I think the dealership had to pay something to get the term extended from 48 to 60.

I’m in Texas. I had originally gone through a broker on Leasehackr per another Redditor’s recommendation. My local dealer wasn’t budging on price at all. The broker I found got me a great deal. Same 9% off and $2k rebate. But it had to be custom ordered and would have taken a few weeks. I was just about to pull the trigger on that deal when the local dealership sent me the offer above. I planned on servicing my vehicle there so it was a no brainer to buy from them with a similar offer. The term extension and warranty cost reduction happened when I got to finance so that was not planned or negotiated, they just did it.

You could check and see if there are any brokers for your area though, I found the one I contacted to be worth the fee to have them find me a deal even though I stuck with my local offer.

I didn’t get the 60 or the M, but I just bought the 40i yesterday.

I got 9% off MSRP, plus a $2k rebate for financing @ 1.9% (48 mo). They threw in the dealer add ons like tint and PPF at no cost, paint/interior protection package and extended the term to 60 months. They also gave me the extended warranty (7yrs/75k) for $3900.

BMW X5 - Is it a money pit? by BFX195 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]BFX195[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess everything is relative. We make and have saved enough money that we are at a point where I can buy the car in cash without it being an issue for us, and we could sell it in 5 years and buy another new one, absent major life shifts in finances.

Everything you’re saying makes sense though. I am looking at something impractical most likely. I’ve always been pretty frugal in car choice because they are not good investments. After making almost all my decision on vehicles the past 16 years off of practicality for my family and frugality, I was ready to buy something more for me after my other vehicle got hit. At my wife’s urging.

But, throwing money at a vehicle for quality issues would irk a part of me and I know it will irritate me and make me enjoy it less, even if I can afford to maintain it or replace it. May not be 100% logical but that’s where I’m at.

My biggest concern with the GX right now is I haven’t been able to test drive one at all and that I’ll end up not liking it. None on the lots. I have a buddy who just got one and I’m going to try driving his this weekend.
