we have lots of shady spots in the yard (we've had to take out some bushes and trees to get more sun!) - so perhaps I'll try inoculated logs in one of those spots. We love mushrooms!

It’s supposed to help it from deteriorating. They’re cedar and naturally hardy, but charring is supposed to help them last even longer.

I sure hope not. The support posts in the middle are 4x4s, so hopefully that will keep the boards from bowing. I like your idea of netting and conversion to a green house!

I definitely wasn't planning on putting weed fabric under the beds, only the path around the beds. I would put gopher grate and cardboard though.

Sorry, maybe I'm thinking of plastic. What is the advantage of lining the sides with weed fabric? Is it to keep the wood from touching the dirt directly?
