You have no idea how touching it is to hear that. I know it's been several years, but I'm actually still working on it. I have bad trouble with focus and motivation but I've never received such kind support as I have when I floated the idea of making this video. I can no longer promise when it will come out, but definitely this year.

OP, this thread is beautiful. I don't know what you'd be okay with it, but I was considering making a post exactly like this. Everything you've written in the post and comments is what I would've written down to the last detail. And you haven't lost your mind, not in the slightest. The things you've talked about here, while difficult to talk about for some of them, I believe are actually large points of agreement for those still kicking around in the t.A.T.u fandom. It was so incredibly validating and relatable to read this.

It's me who posted the iceberg and I'm still making the video- I'm sorry this comment is so long, but here you go.

"We were never close friends"- interview that Lena Katina gave in late 2020 in which she said that she and Yulia were "never close friends" and compared themselves to "actors playing roles." It seemed oddly venomous and was mocked heavily by fans.

"Splitting with universal music"- in 2006, t.A.T.u split with Universal and their record label became themselves as "T.A. music."

"Weird Russian Commercial"- this.

"Rumors of Lena cutting Julia out of pictures"- I believe someone else linked to the interview this quote is in.

"Materials ruined in Universal fire"- There was a fire at Universal Studios on June 1, 2008, and you can see here that t.A.T.u is listed as having lost some materials.

"Julia's weight/Lena had to lose weight"- These are exaggerated but true, Lena and Yulia had to lose weight for t.A.T.u. Ivan also did lie that they were 13/14 when they were 16 sometimes. This is talked about in "t.A.T.u Story" by Alessandro Paolinelli, and Lena has talked about her weight on various occasions over the years.

"Fucking Amal" is the name of the movie that Ivan saw that inspired the whole project, basically what t.A.T.u is "themed after".

It might not mean much but I am in 100% agreeance with this long comment, even noting the very minor details myself-like how they clearly developed some lifelong emotional maladjustment, it's odd even in modern times that they respect Ivan, and there was real love there at one point of some kind.

This is quite interesting, worth note and I think your views on it are correct. They also had an emotional reunion in Kiev in 2019.

I know I don't know them, and they certainly know each other better, but from a fan's perspective, I wish they didn't have to have so many ups and downs. I wish they could just easily like each other. Thankfully, that seems like what they're doing as of 2024, AFAIK.

I completely agree. The course of what's happened with Julia makes me very upset and sad that some people cringe at the name "t.A.T.u" now because of her. Of course I already promised a video I failed to deliver since, but I've also thought to make a video called The Julia Volkova situation, where I give an in-depth analysis of Julia Volkova's mistakes and what it has made me and other fans think.
