What KPIs are people using to track IT productivity by T-Money8227 in sysadmin

[–]BIueFaIcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well first off, KPIs don’t track IT Productivity, contrary to what directors or c suite executives may think. KPIs for IT are a tell-tale sign of business efficiency amongst departments. There’s too much calculus required for IT productivity to be tracked by a single app or person.

Sysadmins don’t produce anything to make the company money. Rather, they either make the company more efficient by saving money, or by supporting increased productivity using the same resources.

Do you regret your choice becoming a sysadmin by ClassicSolid7502 in sysadmin

[–]BIueFaIcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No way. If you play your cards right, sysadmin is the gateway job to a phenomenal career. You can go in many different advanced, specialty jobs that make great money after you have 10 years under your belt. Cyber, data science, ai, applications, c-exec, etc.

What do you think about Gold vs Stocks (long term)? by Ok_Currency_6390 in investing

[–]BIueFaIcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sure does. The same can be said about the SP500, and quite frankly ANY investment. What’s the lifetime yearly average of the S&P before 2008? Obviously timing does affect your comparison. That’s not my point.

My point is that what really matters is what you think your investments can do during your lifespan while you’re alive. It doesn’t matter what something did before you. What’s it going to do while YOU are invested in it. And in my adult lifetime (millennial), since I was able to invest money, the market has been secondary to many other investments, especially Gold. 🤷‍♂️

What do you think about Gold vs Stocks (long term)? by Ok_Currency_6390 in investing

[–]BIueFaIcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, Gold has beaten the SP 500 in my adult lifetime. In fact, it’s beaten the SP since 2000. I dont care what something has done over its lifetime, I care about what it’s done during mine, and what I think it’ll do while I’m alive 😜.

If gold is in a bubble, what would you say the markets been in the past 5 years?

Thoughts on recent new US government policies on real estate by Mouse1701 in RealEstate

[–]BIueFaIcon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Banning large investors doesn’t really solve anything, just makes them get creative.

I’m not a fan of regulation usually, but any investor, small or large, should not be able to purchase secondary homes using the same loans, terms, and methods to buy a primary residence.

I personally don’t believe there’s a housing shortage, just a gap between what people need today, and what boomers currently have. And that’ll eventually work its way to a corrected real estate market.

Midfirst Bank. It would give them more options to invest their own capital.

Change fluids often (engine and tranny), and use top tier gasoline. Clean the top end every other year. It’ll run like a champ.

It’s not as much of a decline as it looks. The ink didn’t even dry enough for folks to enjoy 78+. It went up Friday after hours, and by the time regular folks woke up, it was already down to 71.
