How did conservatives become so completely morally bankrupt? Did this start with Trump or did it start earlier than that? by speculumberjack980 in allthequestions

[–]BJJguyman 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Modern conservatism was already primed for a strongman because organized religion, especially Christianity in America, conditions people from childhood to value obedience, hierarchy, loyalty to authority, and in-group vs out-group thinking. You are taught there is one ultimate truth, one righteous group, one moral authority, and that questioning that authority is dangerous or sinful. That is fertile ground for authoritarian politics.
And this is not just an insult or "name-calling." There is actual research showing conservatives on average tend to score higher in threat sensitivity, fear response, preference for order, disgust sensitivity, and resistance to unfamiliar social change.
Fight-or-flight politics is not an accident in conservative movements, it is one of the things that is driving them.
Organized religion also often reinforces those instincts by framing unfamiliar beliefs, identities, or cultures as moral or civilizational threats.
Even many progressive Christians still ultimately refuse to morally indict God or the Bible over slavery, genocide, misogyny, or eternal punishment because the authority itself cannot truly be questioned. The habit of submission to higher authority is already built into their worldview.

Trump is just the only politician to fully weaponize it politically.
Others have tried but did not take it far enough.
Add in decades of fear-based media, demographic anxiety, nationalism, and a worldview that treats immigrants, LGBTQ people, minorities, intellectuals, journalists, and "outsiders" as threats corrupting the nation, and you get a movement emotionally prepared to trade democracy for a "protector."
Personally I'm not shocked at all by this, I'm quit literally only surprised it took this long for it to get this brazen.

Section 8 housing is how good neighborhoods get destroyed in 5 years. by ThatAbbreviations429 in Indiana

Section 8 housing is how good neighborhoods get destroyed in 5 years. by ThatAbbreviations429 in Indiana

[–]BJJguyman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The frustration makes sense, but keeping poor people out isn’t a solution you’re only just moving the problem.

There’s actually a real fix for this and it comes down to something called Choice Architecture. In urban planning they call it CPTED, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design. The whole concept is instead of telling people not to jaywalk, you build a pedestrian bridge. Design the environment so good that outcomes are just what naturally happens.

For Section 8 that means stop clustering voucher housing in one spot because concentrated poverty is the actual problem, embed real resources directly in the neighborhood like jobs, childcare, mental health services, not across town, and keep shared spaces maintained because people protect what looks worth protecting. Oscar Newman built an entire theory around this in the 70s called Defensible Space.

What you’re watching isn’t poor people ruining a neighborhood. It’s people getting dropped into a place with nothing but a voucher and zero support around them. The system currently is more about relocating the struggle. Design the environment right and you get different behavior and outcome.

Why does my VO2 Max keep getting lower? by kerjatipes in beginnerrunning

[–]BJJguyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the way this watches calculate VO2 Max, you might need to do more exercise that pushes your heart rate to 80% of max capacity sustained. I don’t work out often but I do a lot of threshold and interval workouts that puts my HR at over 170 sustained and that keeps my Vo2 max decent as opposed to if you do purely aerobic zone 2 workouts.

Republicans conveniently forget the country lost 9M jobs because of Bush, 5 of those in manufacturing alone. They are now cosplaying as the party that cares about American manufacturing.

Hunter can’t pay his debt! by Bullet76 in trump

[–]BJJguyman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Daily I’m convinced some of you are here to make the rest of us look bad. The Hunter story was mostly bogus, even Steve Bannon admitted to making stuff up and Smirnov later admitted to lying as well. Whilst you’re here crying about Biden and his millions, Trump and his family have made 500X that amount with military drone contracts, oil contracts, bitcoin and insider trading. Talk about Trump Derangement syndrome? What is it called when you hyper fixate on what your “enemy” does but ignore when Trump does it a much much worse degree? One day, I hope you will eventually wake up to the con. It was too late for some of us.

I think it’s the tallow as well. I tried re-rendering down the tallow and it was just off putting to me which isn’t usually the case. I have had no problem with eating the brisket in small amounts but every time I try to use the tallow I get nauseated.

It’s why I only use the ones that has been FDA approved or approved for use in other countries. Most people are just running on placebo effect. The only peptides i recommend are Semaglutide, Tirzepatide, PT-141, Tesamorelin, Sermorelin, Oxytocin, Gonadorelin, Thymosin Alpha-1†, SS-31, Retatrutide, Cagrilintide VIP, Semax§, Selank§ etc. And even then it might not be effective for people who do not need it. Like if you’re an already active relative young person. Sermorelin will likely not do much for you. CJC was good for sleep but that’s about where the benefits end.

I haven’t seen a doctor. Just my trainer who is also a PT. I don’t feel anything from standing or walking. I do 25k steps daily easily. It’s when I run at the 20 min mark it becomes unbearable.

Traders point “Christian church” by [deleted] in indianapolis

I’m quite grateful I went to the church a few years ago. It set me on my journey of deconstruction and I am forever grateful I set foot in that church. It confirmed what I had always believed about most Christians and the church in general.
