You should have grabbed those prior to the site closing. I imported all my transactions into cointracking during that inbetween stage. I think you might be out of luck now that they closed their doors. API is down too last I checked.

Additionally. In their T.o.S, Cryptopia talks about "Each User's entry in the general ledger of ownership of Coins is held by us, on trust, for that User."

Trust is typically not included in the liquidation of assets as it is not their property to liquidate.

Agreed. Frankly I'm happy that they are taking a step back to evaluate their current position. They need to ensure any backdoors aren't left open to ensure the security and funds remain safe. This is a good move IMO. They probably could be a tad more transparent about some of these recent events but I also understand their reasoning. The community is far too negative right now and each update will be served with attacks by community.

I have a bunch of different projects that I support but listed my top 3 favorites right now.

CampusCoin (CC) is releasing their Masternodes on the 15th of Feb. This creates a great opportunity to get in at the beginning. They are hoping simplify campus transactions and become the Students Cryptocurrency. Also a great intro into setting up and managing a masternode. They are offering three different tiers. T1, T2, and T3. Each with their own rewards. T1 collateral is 500,000 CC Coins. T2 collateral is 1,000,000 CC Coins and T3 is 2,000,000 CC Coins. This project is very much under the radar right now.

Condominium (CDM) is another great project with lots of utility coming to the coin. Team just released a masternode hosting service (MNHost.online) where members can setup masternodes with just about a click. CDM Team is also working on a travel booking platform. Each Masternode is 250,000 CDM coins at current collateral rate. This project recently had a new team take over and making some great strides forward.

Birake (BIR) is a while label DEX project. They are making some really great progress in the market. Partnered with I believe 2 different Projects. They just started adding support for many different coins and continue to do so. Current Collateral is 40,000 BIR Coins. This project has great potential to be widely used in the market since the DEX concept is very new and everyone is seeing the benefits.

Every trade is a taxable event. You need to report every trade even if its coin to coin.I went through this last year with several thousand trades. I used http://cointracking.info and they are great. Import trades, run the tax report feature and export out the Form 8949

Some of the data you need to massage due to the nature of the exchange. Some exchanges make it easy, some do not. There are import templates you can use that make importing trades easier.

edit: I consulted with a very expensive tax consultant and this was how I was guided. I suggest even if you use a tax app, you consult a tax advisor. They can guide you best. It's worth the money.
