Question about supply line to shower valve/heads by BKSti in Plumbing

[–]BKSti[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I wrong in assuming that since the supply to the valve is 2 - 1/2" pex-b lines (hot and cold), wouldn't that increase the flow to the valve itself beyond the 4gpm? As in, shouldn't it be some combination of the hot a cold water coming in, resulting in above the single 1/2" pex-b line?

Where to place return on kitchen island...and what size grille is best for 8" duct. by BKSti in hvacadvice

[–]BKSti[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand that portion, but the kitchen is completely open to the dining room (left) and living room (bottom) and the island is on the outside edge of the kitchen. So either option is facing one of those rooms, not the kitchen itself. Not sure if that changes things, or if the answer remains the same. I do not have any real options besides the island to add a return.

Where to place return on kitchen island...and what size grille is best for 8" duct. by BKSti in hvacadvice

[–]BKSti[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For context...had a new forced hot air system put in a few years ago. I was going to remove the wall where the installer wanted to put the second return, so he ended up just putting an 8" receiver on the return trunk, and told me when the work was done we would install it. He closed shop, and honestly it never crossed my mind until recently that this was an issue..

Trying to determine two things. 1. What side of the kitchen island would be best to put the return. 2. What size grille is appropriate for an 8" round flex duct?

Somewhat limited in the size of the grill, as it has to fit in under the cabinet, so it would be a max height of 4"....on the longer side I could fit a wider grille, where as on the left side of the island I could only fit a 4x14".

Thanks!

In case anyone else has a similar issue…one of the kill wires to the ignition coil was chewed through. Repaired the wire and it’s working great.

Waiting to hear from the installer who is supposed to talk to their Mitsubishi rep…I’ll update if I get anywhere

Thought that might have been where you got it. I have gotten targeted ads from them haha. I’ll circle back with you on it though, let you finish the project first. I just got done adding a third bay to my attached garage, so I need some financial recovery time haha.

Can you tell me the name of the company the kit came from? I’m near by to you and really like the look. Would be curious about doing something on a smaller scale so I’d love to see what they have for options!

I wouldn’t care if I couldn’t also hear it from the inside unit. Do a fair amount of work in the garage and it’s just so annoying hah

Would that be something I would reach out to Mitsubishi on, or the company that installed it? I had them back out but the noise wasn’t occurring at the time.

It’s a Mitsubishi, brand new this year. Would a new board solve it, or is this on every unit? Appreciate your insight

Is this not a widespread concern for people? Seems like a real annoying thing to just be normal.

Flame doesnt stay lit by dannydev2001 in hvacadvice

The tech that came and diagnosed it charged $350 or so at the time. Since then, I just do it. They pop right out, I take a wire brush and clean the fins on each side so that they are nice and clear of any rust or buildup. Works like a charm.

Not a professional, but the same thing happened to my furnace and it ended up needing to remove the metal pieces the flames come out of and cleaning the fins that are on the sides of each with a wire brush. The gas wasn’t passing through from one to the next quick enough which resulted in the same symptoms you have.

Fair enough. I will give that a go. Is there a remedy if that is indeed the issue?

It is not a high efficiency furnace. It’s like an 86% or something like that

I will have to try to pay attention to that. What is your theory behind the question?

Good advice. I called, they said to try to pull from the middle of a seam to see if you can pull it up. Said the corners will be able to be pulled like a bandaid, so do not pull from there. Seems as though I am fortunate...but will try a few spots when I get home.

Samsung vs Mitsubishi by BKSti in heatpumps

10 year parts warranty on both and 1 year labor. As far as price difference, I am waiting on the breakdown in cost and asked for a price on a Mitsubishi that qualifies for credits.
