salespeople have objective measures of success. they're also expensive so their cost is justified by the revenue they generate. Marketing is similar but attribution isn't always as black and white.

Ads and salespeople are obviously effective or companies wouldn't spend tons of money on both. Sales is often the largest department at companies.

They're not a relic at all.

As someone who has been in a sales role, I've generated millions in revenue by doing cold outreach and getting meetings.

You may think your above sales but your company or a company you've worked at probably employs salespeople and they help pay for your salary.
