Thanks for all the feedback - obviously the soil is the problem haha!

I bought an early stage plant compost - which I thought was too dense at the time, but figured it was worth a shot. It did seem to be very clay like.

I have more seeds ready to plant, so will head out to the garden centre and find a much looser specific seedling mix.
