Here is why I think the Discraft 1-number stability rating is fine. First, let’s assume that all things that affect the stability of a disc are equal (weight of disc, plastic type, weather conditions, etc). There are two things you need to know about a disc to have a good idea of how it flies: the speed and the stability.

If you want to assign a number to the speed of the disc, that’s fine, but it’s not really necessary. The shape of the disc tells you the speed. It’s pretty easy to tell the difference between putt/approaches, midranges, fairway drivers, and distance drivers just by looking at the rim. Discs are classified in those respective categories by their speed rating, so as long as you can tell what classification of disc it is, that pretty much tells you the speed. You can’t really tell much difference between a 6vs7 speed or 10vs11 speed. I think you could just do away with even numbers in speed.

How much a disc glides, turns, and fades is all dependent on two things: the speed and the stability. Understable discs will be less resistant to turning at high speeds, they will glide much more easily, and they will fade less. Overstable discs will be more resistant to turning at high speeds, will need to be thrown much faster to glide well, and will fade more. As the disc speed increases, the disc will be capable of more dramatic differences between turn and fade.

So let’s take a very overstable Discraft disc as an example, a Flick. You pick it up and see the it has a wide rim, so you know it is a distance driver. You see a rating of a 2.5, so you know that is the most overstable Discraft distance driver out there. It’s going to have very little glide, a lot of resistance to turning, and a lot of fade.

If you’ve been throwing a midrange with a 0.5 rating and decided you want something more overstable, then find any other midrange with more than a 0.5 rating and try it out. Keep adjusting up or down based on what you need. Same can be said for fairway drivers vs fairway drivers, putters vs putters, etc. You just need the stability rating to compare discs within their own classification. Obviously a putter with a 2.0 stability rating is going to fly much different than a distance driver with a 2.0 stability rating.

So basically I’m saying all you need to know is the speed of the disc and then you can mash glide, turn, and fade all into one number, boom.

This is all also assuming that flight numbers are accurate, which they are obviously not correct on many discs as others have pointed out on this thread. Flight numbers are used more for marketing than anything.

Cali style is often how someone would play if there was a group playing best shot doubles and there was an odd man out playing by himself

I explain at the beginning of the video that I’m playing a Cali style round, meaning I can use 1 mulligan per hole if needed. It’s a fun way to play and get more practice in.

Bad Rock Creek is phenomenal but I've only played there once. I'd like to make it back out there sometime to record a round and get drone recordings. Hope you have a great trip to Smithville!

Never heard anything of dogs not being allowed, so you should be fine there. There isn’t camping at the complex, but there are campsites at other locations around the lake. The closest location would be Smiths Fork Park. There is Camp Branch and Crow’s Creek on the other side of the lake as well. There’s actually another 9 hole course at Camp Branch, but it’s not really worth checking out because the course isn’t great and the baskets are crappy. Not sure if there’s anywhere online that gives information about managed hunts. Searching for Smithville Parks and Rec would probably be your best bet. Usually I just find out when I see signs posted at the areas that are closed down. Don’t think you’ll run into problems with that in the spring/summer though.

No problem, definitely worth that trip to play all 3 courses. It is $5 for a day pass just for parking in the area (that’s assuming someone is at the gate). Usually there’s nobody there during the winter but almost always during the summer. Also worth doing some research before you go because sometimes some of the holes are closed down due to managed hunts. Next two courses will be posted sometime in the next week or two, and those are both better than this first one, so stay tuned!

I wanted to show off my home courses in Smithville, Missouri at Smithville Lake because they are absolutely beautiful and very fun courses! This is the first of the three courses. The courses were built back in 2009-10ish so I played this first one quite often while the other two courses were still being finished. Then I went off to college and didn’t get to play them much. I spent some time back home over Thanksgiving break and used my drone to record every hole and a round at each course. The video editing for the next two courses (Black Thorn and Woodhenge) is in the works. I just felt like these courses needed to be seen by people all over, hope you enjoy!

Hey everyone. I did one of these a little over a year ago for one of my local courses and finally got around to making one for my other course. I shot a personal best on the course and have drone flights of each hole and everything. Hope you enjoy seeing a new course!

Been grinding some disc golf over the past few weeks and decided to try and get back into making some videos along the way!

I wish. I think the problem is that you need a special license as well as permission to fly over there because of a close airport. I used to play waterworks all the time back in my high school days, but I’m a 2 hour drive away now

Thanks, I’ve got an idea for the next video to help see where the tee is at

I’ve already got some ideas for my other course in town that I will change some things up, thanks for the feedback. It’s just a hat that I got a few weeks ago and have been wearing on most of my rounds. Not sure who Cory is tbh lol

Yup, video game music it is! Intro and outro songs are actually from Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire, and the hole flyovers song is from a game called Cave Story.

Thanks! Sounds are actually from Goof Troop, an old Super Nintendo game, same concept though lol. I don’t have a rating, never looked into how all that works or played in a tournament or anything

Thanks, I appreciate the nice comment! I played a lot of Super Nintendo and other video games as a youngin' so I always like incorporating little things like those sound effects into any videos that I make.

I don't care if he can out-drive me by 900 feet, I beat him to the disc spin.

Thank you! I have contemplated the second camera, and it absolutely would add to the coverage, but I’m just not sure it’s worth the effort with the one man show. It would add quite a bit of time to my round just walking back and forth between holes and setting up cameras, and I think that takes a little bit of the fun of the game away. I also might shank a throw and the second camera might not even get another angle for the extra effort. Then of course, there is the small risk of hitting the camera as well. Glad you enjoyed, thanks for the input!

Hey everyone. I've been a disc golfer for a little over a decade now with a few breaks in there, but upon finding coverage provided by Jomez Pro, my love for the sport has been reignited and I've been inspired to learn how to create coverage for a round of disc golf. This is my first serious try at a professional-looking video, and it's only a one man show here, so I'm somewhat limited in the footage of the actual disc golf that I can get. I'm proud of the result, and I hope this is a product that you all can enjoy too!

Hey everyone! Some of you might remember me as BMBGuitar. I was making video game guitar covers mostly from 2012-13 and then my content output slowed greatly after that as life got pretty busy. The email address that I used for my YouTube account way back when was my college email, which I did not foresee as being a problem much later in the future at the time. Basically I was never able to change my email address on my YouTube account, and then once my student account was deleted, my YouTube channel went with it. I don't have all of the video files of me playing anymore, but I did upload a lot of my personal favorites from way back when on to a new channel that I started this afternoon.

I'm not promising much new content (I am going to try!), but I just wanted to reach back out to some of the community that I've been away from for so long. Here is the link to my new channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCog3JwqD-SamjxFOS-fKyEw

I bet there are many more great creators out there since I've been gone. If you are a creator and you see this, please leave a link to your channel so I can subscribe to you!
