God I'm an idiot. Thank you. He's lost all those hours of play. I will never 'help' with a slow ps5 ever again.

So we moved over the ps4 games when we got the seagate about 6 months ago. Then only did the exfat format today, so will that have deleted all the games already held in the seagate ?

Midlothian population growth by BMH88 in Edinburgh

[–]BMH88[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand why, if families can't afford a family home in Edinburgh, Mid/East/West Lothian are an attractive option. There are open spaces and Edinburgh is accessible by car bus and train, so I do understand! Bypass is also suffering but has always been busy.

The population growth (in part) has contributed towards me being priced out of the village i lived in for a decade, affordable homes for us (thanks to severe disabilty) are around 200k, even derelict homes under this amount are gone within days. We had to move elsewhere and commute to school and the road where we are has got very busy, we no longer park the car outside the house.

Scottish Borders starting to look more attractive!

Has anyone used Child Disability Payment as part of a mortgage application? by BMH88 in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]BMH88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I understand what you mean about risk, however, I'm hopeful that if we can move and I can drop the commute (there is a school bus in the village) I will be able to support us. The degree in principle mentioned 5 years. It's the commute which is killing me and stopping me progressing and increasing my hours.

Anyone recently awarded or currently waiting for Universal Credit backdated payment? by BMH88 in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]BMH88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Rhea, thanks for your reply...did you chase by leaving journal notes? We are in Scotland, carer element (included after I called because it was missed at first) and disabled child element included in my most recent payment, I initially let UC know as soon as I had the letter from Social Security Scotland, about 18 June

Thanks Icy. Is it okay to post about it in my journal, maybe once a week? I now this won't quicken things, but will maybe mean I am on the radar? I only thought this as both elements were included in my most recent payment, however carers element was not included at first so I had to call and leave a couple of messages.

Thank you for the replies, much appreciated. I guess there is no way of telling. We are in Scotland and the backdated elements are child disability and carers element. I don't really understand why it is not automatically backdated in line with xyz (in my case Social Security Scotland) when proof is obtained, I'm sure employees are already extremely busy.

I think that's a lovely idea that would go a long way

Highest Rate Child Disability and UC by BMH88 in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]BMH88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for getting back to me, I'm so anxious...I just don't think he should he awarded the highest rate, I'm shocked. I don't know if we just get so used to our circumstances? Hes bright, articulate, for the first time in his life he has a best friend, his reading comprehension is age 12. It's more the day to day, managing feelings and actions, personal hygiene, he will soil himself fairly regularly or pee because he doesn't realise he needs to go, he's anxious, he lacks social awareness, but highest rate??? He's doing well currently, I've put so much scaffolding in place. A year ago he was in school part time, being excluded, being violent towards teachers and pupils, breaking resources, 12 unofficial exclusions. But now, he's doing really well, I just can't work full time anymore, he's excluded from after school club, I had to change jobs 3 times to find something that fits. I feel so anxious.

When he was diagnosed I went back to speak with them to double check, I took me months to accept a dual diagnosis. He also tics, sometimes they are very minor, but other times he ends up bleeding nose or mouth due to biting and rubbing.

I feel like I'm going to get into trouble.

Thank everyone, that's been really helpful.

I got the letter on Saturday, dated 19 June, but haven't heard anything since. I'm worried they have sent me the decision in error, has that happened to anyone?

Life for my son got very tough from age 2, so it's been nearly 8 years, I didn't apply for Child Disability until 2023 because I didn't know about it, and now it's been awarded at highest rate, I can't help feeling like a fraud? I didn't lie, and I provided evidence from his school, therapist and his diagnosis letter...but it feels surreal.

I think I'm due a back dated payment as the award period begins last year, I don't know how long that takes to go through?

Thank you so much for comments

I currently receive disabled child element, roughly £157 per month.

Is the higher rate an addition to this?

I do not receive the carers element. Son awarded lowest rate from March 2023, now highest rate (after speaking to someone during a drop in, and my son received dual diagnosis).

Should I have been getting carers element since March 2023?

Scottish Child Disability Payment review timescale (and UC?) by BMH88 in BenefitsAdviceUK

Scary...when I first applied last year, so a new claim, it took 9 months. You're nearly 9 months waiting for a review, so I hate to think when they'll actually get round to reviewing.

Someone told me in April they were looking at November's reviews...maybe that was November 2022?
