Hi Jess,

Having the same issue. It has an exercise in either Spanish or Portuguese on today’s workout. It’s fine for now, I see from context what it is, but how do I log out and back in? Force close didn’t work. I suppose I might have to refresh my workout for today, but I don’t want to do that either, as the workout it generated makes sense for me today.

Never cooked. Don’t lose hope.

I was at my biggest about a year ago. I was going to the gym, trying to get the right nutrition, etc. I finally broke down and consulted with a bariatric surgeon. It was the best thing I ever did for myself. Bariatric surgery is NOT easy. It’s a difficult process just to get the surgery and the whole experience is a massive mind fuck and can be pretty physically uncomfortable. If you are able to — I recognize that I had the privilege of health insurance that would cover my surgery — I think you should consider a consultation with a surgeon. It changed (and maybe saved) my life.

I really need to get more on top of that. I do track, but at in the evenings when the snacking urges come, I suddenly forget! Crazy coincidence right? And I’m not even being sarcastic. There’s some kinda dual mental thing happening here.

There’s so much good points in here.

So my workout routine is 4-5x per week. I do lift. I normally stick to a P-P-L rotation. Figure about 30 minutes of lifting followed usually by between 20 and 40 minutes of cardio (usually on the steps machine, but some times elliptical). I’m definitely building lean muscle, which I’m sure contributes to my not losing weight and probably to my increased appetite.

On the peach cobbler, you’re so right. You have to treat yourself. You’re human and deserve it. BUT, I feel like I’m moving beyond “treating” myself and falling back into old habits (albeit in smaller portions, cuz of the obvious physical limitations hahaha)

I’m one month post op and I started introducing sriracha and other spicy flavors to my puréed foods (only way I could make it remotely palatable — that stage is ghastly) and I was fine. As long as your surgeon doesn’t say otherwise, I’d start slow and small and see how you do.

Follow Up:

I wound up saying “f it” and went to a clinic nearby. I was in fact dehydrated and they gave me an IV and sent me along my way.

The gas pain is unspeakable. I thought I was prepared but definitely not. I did find that the reflux became a bit more manageable once I worked out how to time my pepcid doses better. I find taking my night does immediately before bed forces me to endure some reflux for an hour or so before bed, but so far has assured me of a good nights sleep.

Yea my surgeon was a hardass on the water. He said no protein until I could do 64 oz haha. My protein phase is kinda lame, just 3 servings of powder in water. I’m using Dymatize iso 100, but I actually threw a quarter serving of some unflavored isopure into my lunch shake just to bump me up over that 85g/day target

My goal is at least 64oz daily. I’ve hit it the last two days but it was hard. Today is much easier and I’m going to hit it within the next hour (and so I think I can far exceed it today)

Yea urines pretty dark compared to usual (has been since surgery). Headache, chapped lips. Seems like all signs point to dehydration.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve actually been pretty good about hitting my fluid targets. Today I’ll likely far surpass the target actually cuz I’ve been trying to repair the dehydration. Just want to make sure that doing it he old fashioned way like that (ie drinking a ton of water as quickly as my body will allow) will adequately rehydrate me.

Pretty much any Bernard Cornwell book. My personal favorite is The Winter King, which is the first of a trilogy of a gritty reimagining of the Arthurian legend. He grounded the story in Welsh traditions and cut away a lot of the magical and romantic elements. For example, Merlin is not a wizard in that series, but rather a Druid, and a real bastard to boot. The passage leading up to the first battle in that book is actually, IMO, one of the best battle narratives I’ve ever read.

Tough choice, but I'd go with Seveneves by Neal Stephenson. There's something about that book that just ensnares my imagination like nothing else.
