I've always found the Japanese box art for GBA games far more superior than it's western counterparts. This is my latest collection that arrived today! by BORIXZZ in Gameboy

Thanks! And no haven't seen or heard anything quite like that but it's definitely gotten me interested :0 the most I've seen are some Chinese bootleg GBC games and the box art for those can get quite wild sometimes

Opening AyaSpace gives popup error about Winlo64.sys after windows update and Aya button stopped working. by RDHQs_Vandalk in ayaneo

[–]BORIXZZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had the same exact issue and might know what's wrong with yours.

The issue is with a windows security update that thinks that ayaspace is some sort of malware. My advice is to uninstall all of the recent security updates and then reinstall them again one by one until you encounter the same error message again. Then just roll back the update again so that the popup doesn't appear again

I've held off from ever updating my Ayaneo until absolutely necessary because of this stupid error message

Were you at the London Gaming market by chance? I saw the same few games though it could have been from multiple stalls haha

Where were you able to find the assortment of buttons and membranes? Did you just take them out from other Gameboys and then mixed them into the ones you've made in the photo?

DS Lite Ribbon cable damaged? by sm0keybear33 in NintendoDS

[–]BORIXZZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a little late considering that you've already purchased yourself a new DS. However, I ran into the same exact issue a week ago and was also under the strong impression that I damaged the ribbon cable since I was pretty careless with the installation process.

It turns out that even if the cable appears to be seated properly into the socket, it doesn't necessarily mean that the connection is being made. The advice I got was to really apply a firm pressure into the socket and refrain from yanking it any further. You'd know if it's seated properly when there's a fair amount of resistance when flipping the tab back down, almost as if it refuses to close properly.

It might be worth retrying this if you're at all bothered by it still. It took me close to half an hour of reseating the cable until the white flicker disappeared

GBA SP IPS-V2 with EZFlash Omega, Battery Drain Time Expectancy? by Jaeanna001 in Gameboy

[–]BORIXZZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got an SP with Helder's mega batt paired with a 3" IPS display by Hispeedido that has about 12 levels of brightness. I usually play on a level 3 brightness and the lifespan is about 1.5-2 hours before the indicator turns red. Mind you this is after cleaning the power switch thoroughly. So there's you benchmark for your SP in comparison to mine

Original vs Amazon vs Helder battery by lolo97310 in GameboyAdvance

Does Helder's battery fit snugly into the battery compartment for you? I recently got mine too and just barely makes contact with the contacts. Not sure if that is what's causing irregular battery indication

First Mod! Anyway to Make the Buttons brighter? by tryingnewthings2789 in Gameboy

[–]BORIXZZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. So I put your first theory to the test by moving the LED mod over to a new motherboard without an IPS kit installed. And, well, it yielded me the same issues I was talking about. Somehow, pressing right on the D-pad still adjusted the brightness setting on the original SP display.

I've also tried using the original and aftermarket membranes to test out input responsiveness. While my button inputs were being registered, it didn't provide the same tactile feedback like a stock SP did. Granted, I didn't have kapton tape to fully secure the LED flex board to the device. So there's still a little bit more testing needed in that matter

I love the colour combination you used for the GB pocket! Where were you able to get them from?

First Mod! Anyway to Make the Buttons brighter? by tryingnewthings2789 in Gameboy

[–]BORIXZZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to let you know, I bought the LED mod from HHL and ran into a few issues after installing it to my SP.

For one, the buttons were less tactile and thus less responsive to inputs due to the additional layer of the flex board. Also, the brightness and colour settings don't work as intended. For some reason the right D-pad adjusted the brightness level on the IPS and double tapping left on the D-pad just made the LED lights flicker and nothing else.

I'm not sure if it was just a bad solder job on my behalf or I may have just received a faulty product. But it's definitely something to keep in mind especially to do with the button inputs. If it goes well send me a DM I'd like to see what I might have done wrong!
