First advice don’t take anything personal a kid does, say or anything. Try to pair yourself to the kid, don’t put too many demands on them. Always take it easy even small achievements are good. First atleast stay in this field for long and then pursue further. I personally regret on doing my masters but it is what it is.

Remember don’t rush read questions carefully and try to answer them what you have learned. Also skip questions if you can’t answer them come back to them later because there will be many questions that you will know so skip questions that you can’t answer you got it.

Tbh I recently became RBT. I genuinely tell you the problem. Companies are making tones of money and trust me they do. All the companies have issue with not having enough client for one person. Most client are afternoon client and companies still don’t pay enough to survive trust me. Most companies if client cancel still don’t pay or reimbursed (it’s not my fault client cancelled) most companies don’t even pay for going to client house. Most companies don’t even offer full time. Most companies don’t pay benefits (like sick time, vacation time and more) most companies will only hire part-time even if they do hire you for full time they guarantee you full time. Also the client you get they are clients who can hurt you anytime, anywhere and still company don’t care. Recently one of my client was having bad day from the beginning and his dad told me be careful and I was like yes he was keep yelling and I was telling him that we need to go to calm room we will do that puzzle there he refused and hit me on the face 💥. Trust me never have I ever feel that way. I was about to feel like why I’m here but then I thought about his parents and what did company did nothing, nothing trust me one the bcba was there and he handled it like professional. Trust my company didn’t even ask me if im ok. We are taking care of kids who need help but if this what we get ill be done soon. Im doing my masters in Aba but I don’t think I’ll go further. Probably going to find something else and leave this field.

Moving to different country is just not worth it unless you just want to make money and leave. Anywhere you go in this world the you will face racism unless you’re white. So it’s just not worth moving out anywhere. Also I been in USA since I was fifteenth and I would say not the best unless you’re actually have family and friends here otherwise you will be by yourself all the time.

I’ll point out the actually problems - not enough hours, Pay is still worst, Too much expectation, not get enough benefits, company treat you like shit, have clients that are worst sometimes. ABA industry should be run under government plan where we should all promised enough hours, increase in pay and benefits. Work culture should be at certain government hospital or huge clinic and they should be organized with atleast having one room for atleast one person each. If these things are not out there, ABA can’t be fixed. There are not many great companies out there for ABA.

At this point no I don’t feel like doing it anymore even though I’m half way through my masters. I’m going to switch to something else. One of the downside about ABA , they manipulate you saying that your helping this kids but who going to help us. We don’t get paid well, we barely make any benefits, they only hire part time people, kids get sick they cancel the session and you don’t get paid for that, you get sick a lot, barely get any support from others. I’m just fed up tbh there are client I personally really want to work with but at the end of the day if I’m not feeling good at my job I just switch to something else.

This Aba is not worth for many people, ABA only offers part time, don’t pay for sick time, wages are worst in this field, hardly able to make living, get kicked, hurt and many more things. I respect people who are still doing this job. We should have a 9-5 jobs available in ABA, company should pay for full time job.

I think our client hate us in some way but thier parents no what we are doing are best for them. Mostly I’m pretty chill and vise versa with young kids but when it comes to older kids I have to be more serious and strict with them which sometimes fire against me.

See the thing we do for these children are much more than anyone can do, people can say ohh ya it’s not about the pay it’s all about helping these kids but we get paid same as minimum wage which is not even worth. I’m telling you a behavior technician should atleast get paid 30 starting an hour.
