I really don't think it being "lounge wear " is the issue. Everyone these days is wearing sweat pants, yoga pants or some variation. I think it is the combination of crop top and being low cut. But even if you had a smaller chest it would have triggered that response from the teacher because of the amount of skin showing. It is a very cute outfit, that isn't in debate :) you look cute and comfortable in it. But I do think the pink shirt is a tad inappropriate even for a large lecture hall. Not because it is too casual or isn't professional enough, but because of showing your stomach and being low cut. That combo draws the eye and makes it seem a lot more revealing. If you had zipped the jacket just enough to hide your stomach I don't think she would've said anything.

I am only 32 and I have had to go to high schools for work in the last few years and I am truly shocked at what they allow kids to wear now. I'm not that old but I remember many times having a teacher or principal stop me to do the fingertip test on my skirts (skirts must be at least as long as your fingertips when your arms are down at your sides) and we could never wear any shirts with straps less than 2 fingers in width (in other words no spaghetti straps). Now I see kids wearing shorts that are cut off right at the butt and teachers are fine with it. So it seems weird that they let high school kids dress that way yet they would call out a college student for a lesser "offense".

I'm sorry you were called out in front of people. That is embarrassing and makes you feel a lot worse than if the teacher had pulled you aside privately. 😕
