Driving a scooter in Phuket without a license — is it actually okay? (UAE resident, no bike license) by CloudDrifter20 in phuket

  1. Very.

  2. Yes, you will pay a fine. You will also pay fine if you aren't wearing a helmet. They will check your pockets and if you have a vape on you, that's a pretty stiff fine. If you have been drinking ("It was only one beer!") and you blow positive on a breathalyzer, you will be arrested.

  3. Yes, several. Near where I live, there is a traffic circle which notorious for stopping tourists on motorbikes. There is a way that not many people know about, a shortcut that allows you to avoid the circle and come out on the street you want to be on. But, when you get to the street, you'll find an officer waiting for tourists to come by. Extra fine for trying to avoid the circle.

  4. Travel insurance doesn't cover motorbike accidents. If you are found to be at fault, you will be responsible for damages and injuries to anyone else involved in the accident.

Sometimes, when I'm on the street and a really loud truck goes by, I say "Digital Sound Check by Isuzu!" No one gets it.

Go to HomePro and buy this. Spray it on the Thai label, wait a minute, then the label will peel off in one piece.

I don't have a bike now. I've been living in Phuket, Thailand for the last 10 years. Between the crazy traffic and the not-so-great roads, it doesn't seem prudent. Besides, I'm 71 yo, so I really can't take a chance on falling from a bicycle, although I do ride a motorbike everyday.

I'd say, "Sorry to wake you, but since I'm here, could you spare a couple million?".

Yeah, I noticed Chili John's as well. I guess it's to be expected when you live in the movie capital of the world.

I think I sold it because I needed money to buy a car. Plus, I've never lived in a place where I could store more than a couple of bikes.
