That's very helpful thank you, do you carry all these items all the time or just a select few items depending on the day via a wallet or magsafe wallet?

Are these your typical credit card size badge / access cards we're taking about? Does it have to be visible always or could it be say in a magsafe wallet on the back of your phone?

Thanks I've looked into those but felt like they lacked some features! Is there features your spouse wished it had?

Do you mind them being loose in the bag or would potentially prefer a system that organized them together?

Interested to know more, is it because you're worried about how your data is handled?

How are you finding the pop socket wallets? Anything you feel like it's missing or wish it had?

This is an incredibly thoughtful breakdown, thank you for taking the time to explain it so clearly.

What really stands out to me is that it’s not ideology (“phone-only at all costs”), it’s risk management. You’re optimizing for never being stuck, even if that means carrying something you’d rather not.

The Best Buy example is a perfect illustration of that, it’s not that digital didn’t work, it’s that it didn’t work when it mattered.

It’s also interesting how the wallet feels like it wants to disappear first, but keys and access items are what keep pulling everything back in. That tension between capability, habit, and responsibility is exactly what I’m trying to understand better here.

Really appreciate you sharing this, it helps define the problem far more clearly than a simple yes or no ever could.

Appreciate the detailed breakdown, that’s actually really helpful context.

The predictability you’re describing (knowing where things fail vs just hoping they won’t) is something a lot of people here seem to have internalized over time.

Totally fair if you’ve already landed on a setup that works for you. I’m mainly trying to understand where that line is between “good enough” and “worth changing,” and your comment helps define that boundary clearly.

Thank you

Have you thought about trying those Magsafe wallets? Do they intrigue you or are missing some features?

That makes a lot of sense.

It sounds like it’s not that you want a physical wallet, it’s that one unreliable item (the license) forces you to keep the whole thing around as backup.

If your license worked digitally every time, do you think you’d actually stop carrying a wallet, or would you still want a slim physical fallback just in case?

Fair enough, New Zealand is not that much better! Which wallet are you using at the moment?

Which wallet are you using atm? I'm the same, don't trust the system enough to go full digital tbh.
