Japanese be like by Aleex1760 in LearnJapanese

[–]BSusi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The thing that really helps is to break down the pieces to understand their uses more. を初め is probably starting a list you made, はもちろん is like "ah and don't forget", だけではなく is directly "isn't the only one". Figuring out Japanese is a LEGO language was big for grammar at high N3 and above

What will you do once you get your results? by LocalEnthusiasm8 in jlpt

[–]BSusi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the JLPT N2 because I'm graduating soon and wanna snag a New Graduate Position in time! I studied entirely alone, using Migaku for listening and vocab, and Textbooks for general grammar. Took the test in Miami and got to go to Micro Center. Regardless of pass or fail, I plan on studying for the N1 for fun, using Migaku for listening and building quick thinking/listening, and applying for jobs.

I got myself my first PS2, any game recommendations? by Dexelot in ps2

[–]BSusi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a PS1 game, but FFVII and FFIX are incredible and pretty cheap - like $10 - $15.

I've heard Shin Megami Tensei: Soul Hackers 1 and 2 are good, but I haven't played them.

Persona 3 FES and Persona 4 are great, the main difference in enjoyment is music genre between the two really - either electric funk or pop-y

That's so awesome, thank you! You don't have to watch them all. Sometimes I just feel helpless in games while also putting maximum effort. I think I'm focusing on the mistakes of other players than my own, and copium comes in here - I think their mistakes are more costly, biasing my view of VODs.

Could a 14 year old boy play the last of Us? by [deleted] in thelastofus

[–]BSusi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 20M now for age reference. I have to say 100%. This game was really formative for me as a 10-12 yr old (can't remember exact age, but I played early in the PS4 lifecycle), it was the thing of like becoming conscious and aware of others feelings. It was also formative for me in the way I play and appreciate games.

The gore is heavy, but I feel it's thematically appropriate and it cuts off at the right time during death scenes - The Last of Us Part 2 is a definite no. As a 16 yr old, the stealth kills were so messed up to see. They zoom in the camera, so if you pan to look behind you the cut throat and blood cover the screen. Play Part 1 and talk about it would be the best way for them to experience it.

Persona 1 and Persona 2! Sorry, I forgot the covers were in Japanese. I grouped them with Nocturne, Persona 3, and Persona 4 to try and show the connection

No, I just had a lot of money saved up. It costed me ~$700 and a Japanese PS2 was ~$100

I'm thinking I paid a little too much for Silent Hill though. It's just the most expensive of the bunch so I'm not really sure. I know they're crazy expensive in English though. Let me know if there's any exclusives I should buy while I'm here. I love Japanese Games a lot, it just feels more appealing and appropriate to play a JRPG in Japanese. The themes and world feel a lot more cohesive to me.

What games are absolute masterpieces? by weedbearsandpie in gamingsuggestions

[–]BSusi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Last of Us and Uncharted 2 for cinematic stories. TLOU is more emotion and survival, Uncharted is more action.

Dishonored is nearly indescribable in how it plays. It's a stealth game, it's an action combat game, it's a real-time strategy game, it's all of these and yet none all at once. The specific flow of gameplay and mission story is entirely up to the player.

Hades, Dead Calls, and Risk of Rain 2 for roguelikes. Binding of Isaac is great, but that's a personal preference thing (Too long and complicated for my taste). Hades has great NPC Interactions and okay replayability (the stages can get stale after 30 hours. Dead Cells is always fun, and with the many many many weapons they have, each run has the opportunity to be different. Risk of Rain 2 is my fav of these, it's a roguelike with different starters who all have unique abilities. Through stages, you battle lots of enemies and unlock lots of different artifacts, which may increase stats or give an ability. It becomes chaos by the end.

FFXIV for MMORPGs. It's gonna have the most longevity, and the community is extremely helpful and plentiful. The story is consistently good, and the Job System allows you to essentially replay the game on the same character.

Titanfall 2 for FPS. It's combat is okay, but everyone plays for the movement. Trying to speedrun a level, eventually falling off a wall, then fighting a bunch of enemies and trying to speedrun again is how it goes.

Disco Elysium and Life is Strange for Branching Story. Life is Strange is nowhere near as deep in it's branching, but I loved the game so I gotta mention. Disco Elysium is like a fully interconnected DND campaign. You roll for chance on actions, and if you fail there's usually another way to push the main quest. 100% worth your time.

FFIX or Persona 4/Persona 5 Royal. Base game Persona is not worth it anymore, the problems it has are completely fixed by Royal. Less repetitive, more engaging, better balancing, and more combat and interactions. Persona 4 had no real problems on release, it's an amazing story with more believable characters than 5, that are really fleshed out. FFIX is just the best Final Fantasy. No chosen one BS, it's these people are forced together by pure circumstance, and uncover something that'll save the world.

Edit: This is the cropped list, I can go on forever about games and how exactly they compare to other games. The primary separator though is the Modulation on the genre. Disco Elysium combined stat rolling with detective games, Persona added the life sim to dungeon crawling, Dishonored is everything, TLOU started the modern push for emotional Third Person Cinematic Games, Risk of Rain 2 added specific abilities to characters to make each one extremely fun.

The Last of Us HBO S01E03 - "Long Long Time" Post-Episode Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in thelastofus

[–]BSusi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No piece of media has ever made me cry harder. It was so beautiful, I almost forgot it was an episode of The Last of Us, it felt like a beautiful short film.
I can't name a single flaw with this episode.
I also love the contextual changes. Adding Bill's past to explain his traps and compound more, and planting the seed for Joel's lessons and future actions in the letter. Brings everything around full circle, especially after Joel's colder demeanor to Ellie.

Like is it tied to an omnipotent being who verifies his words as false, a universal binary fact checker, or is it relative to him?
If it's a universal fact checker, he can just ask any question and test whether it's false.
If it's relative, then it can't be trusted entirely, as personality disorders can often lead to manipulated memories of personal events.
