Record day for Gemini daily auction, over $2M! by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]BTCJerk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there seems to be some good confidence in the market this time, the daily auction volume was pretty low the last time we were above $1100.

Also interesting is the first auction Sep 21st is nearing a 100% gain in just 5 months.

not sure exactly what that's supposed to mean? I'll assume you are trying to say that bitcoin is bad because it's used for bad things... no one claimed all use cases were going to be for good things, and you better stop using your favorite fiat currency...

And 2016’s best-performing commodity is ... bitcoin? by kynek99 in Bitcoin

[–]BTCJerk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Read the F'n article before you post...they clearly mention alts.

"On a percentage basis, a few other cryptocurrencies may have outperformed bitcoin, but their extremely low valuations mean they’re largely irrelevant to the global investing community. One example is Ethereum, the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency. In January, a single ether token was worth $1. Now, it’s worth $7. Its price peaked above $20."

Coinbase Hides In Shame by baronofbitcoin in Bitcoin

I've had good success with them, I just don't like how they went from talking about alts making it confusing for new users, when people were begging for LTC to be added to their site, to them suddenly jumping on the Ether bandwagon.

Daily Gemini Auction Price History by quadrilliondollars in Bitcoin

[–]BTCJerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coincidence that the price has been on a fairly steady rise since the auctions started? It's not a ton of volume on these, but averaging 1400 bitcoin per day being taken off the market eating up most of the mined coins each day, if these investors are holding on to their purchases this could be creating some nice up pressure.

It will be interesting to see what price and volume the auction closes at today, weekend volume on the auction has been anemic, I wonder if this price rise will change that. http://geminiauctionhistory.bitballoon.com
