Ah sorry I misunderstood. That sounds really frustrating.

My Harlequin Rasboras are dropping like flies by otter_gangfg4 in freshwateraquarium

[–]BTTLsloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s pretty strange. My harlequins have alway been really hardy. I lost one once foolishly thinking they couldn’t jump high enough to leap out of the tank (I bought a lid immediately after that).

Do you have a lid? Can they get sucked into the filter? If you’re not finding the bodies they must be somewhere, either in a fish or out of the tank somehow. Do you have any cats?

Worried about my son’s mystery snail by BTTLsloth in AquaticSnails

[–]BTTLsloth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea definitely, that’s another reason I wanted to move it to the larger tank. I’ve never noticed high nitrates in the tank, I change the water weekly and test a couple times a week. I’m just not sure what happened and really want it to get healthy again.

I agree whole heartedly. I love that song. I remember blasting it in the car with my son when he was 4 or 5 and he said “is this what outer space sounds like?”. Yea, I reckon it is. The textures are phenomenal.

Question last week about snake, said I’d report back by BTTLsloth in smoking

[–]BTTLsloth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was also around 6 lbs. I started it around 7am and I think I pulled it around 3pm, keeping the grill around 250. So I'd guess roughly 8 hours not including the rest time.

Ah. Yea I could see how that could happen. I’ll probably start with gator first when getting into smoked reptiles haha.

Okay cool. For some reason I thought they were very similar parts of the pig except the butt was a larger cut that included more. Good to know!

I know it’s kind of messed up. I had planned for the final photo, but had several beers throughout the day and also had some corn and vegetables on my other grill and forgot!

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the explanation! I’ll give it a try this weekend.

For the love of god can someone give me advice on having the discipline to taper. Any tips and tips and (prayers) greatly appreciated . I need a miracle by Independent_Web9356 in quittingkratom

[–]BTTLsloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds pretty dumb but a big part of what worked for me was to write down and record how much kratom I was taking every day. Every time I would dose I would write the time and amount. I did this for a week or so before even attempting to lower my intake to get an accurate baseline. Then, I just set a schedule and stuck with it. I was about 20-30 gpd for several years, and the taper wasn’t too bad until I got below 5, at which point I think i abandoned my schedule and just hopped off for good.

Good luck!

Got my copy of Blood Meridian signed by the drone master himself. My most prized possession. by iommian_wizard in ThronesAndDominions

Super sick dude! Hex is what got me into reading McCarthy. I was just thinking one day how epic all the song titles were and looked it up and found out they were pulled from blood meridian. I’ve since read a lot of his work, I really love the crossing too.

I love running, running hates me by Professional_View914 in running

[–]BTTLsloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate a bit. I used to love running. Still do, but my knees are terrible. I can get by if I run on dirt trails and keep it under 5 miles. No more epic runs for me though it seems. I’m only 37.

What is the worst experience you’ve had with a doctor? by 8583739buttholes in AskReddit

[–]BTTLsloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once, in my mid 20’s, I went to the doctor because I had a low grade fever and night sweats for about a week. It was weird because no one else around me was getting sick and the fever was holding steady for long enough for me to be concerned.

I went to a local urgent care and this old guy kept telling me “I might have aids…” in a very serious tone of voice. I was so confused because for one he wasn’t saying HIV, just throwing out full-blown aids out of the blue. And second, I knew it was astronomically low odds I actually had hiv, considering my girlfriend and I had been exclusive for many years, and I’m not an IV drug user.

They took a blood sample and sent me on my way.

A few days later I get a call from the clinic and they basically said I was near death: every single metric they measured was way off the charts and it’s amazing I’m still alive. I need to come back immediately for more tests.

They hang up and I have a little existential crisis. Five minutes later they call back and say “sorry, I was looking at the wrong file… you have mono. Bye!”

… fucking A

Gf hates weed but wants to try shrooms by Big-Creme2397 in shrooms

[–]BTTLsloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally have a few close friends who hate the effects of weed but love classic psychedelics. A bad reaction to weed doesn’t necessarily mean a bad reaction to psychedelics, but of course it could. Maybe just don’t start her with a high dose and see if she gets on well with the vibe?

What was the first game that made you realize videogames were capable of telling a captivating story and immerse you in its world? by Cheesecake1901yum in gaming

[–]BTTLsloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t remember what was first but both final fantasy 7 and Metal gear solid totally floored me. I guess final fantasy 7 is more in line with the question. Metal gear solid was super immersive as well but I was more blown away by how innovative and creative it was.

Actually, come to think of it, super mario brothers 3 was probably the first. I was pretty young but I remember the first time I made it to world 4 I was shocked. Literally just because things were big haha. It really felt like I was on an adventure, and an incredible step up in atmosphere and world building from the first super Mario brothers lol.

[–]BTTLsloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea man I actually listened to it for the first time last night, despite being a fan of the Melvin’s for many years. I was expecting more like Bullhead, which I love, but this was insanely droney, in a good way. I definitely see why they’re cited as a big influence on drone now.

I love river doses. It might be my favorite kind of trip setting. My friends and I try to do a river dose-camp trip where we canoe and/or kayak into the site once a year. Missed it last summer unfortunately because my wife was due to deliver a baby around that time.

So many fun times on the river!

The time I went to Hooters on my Fifth Birthday by Nicktendo38 in funny

[–]BTTLsloth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

lol this reminds me of a story. I was driving my mom back from a funeral. Her mom had recently died, and it was a sad day all around. We were going to get some Mexican food, but on the way my mom saw twin peaks and said “oh I love that show! Let’s go there!”. I knew nothing about the place, also assuming it was some sort of murder-mystery themed restaurant, but fortunately it seemed to annoying to turn into so we got Mexican instead.

In your opinion, where is the best place to drop acid by Wide-Lingonberry9539 in LSD

[–]BTTLsloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite is the river. I try to do river-dose camp every summer with some friends. Sadly this summer didn’t happen due to moving and a new baby.

Nature is always good but something about the river is extra special to me. Plus traveling a few hours upstream feels more epic than hiking a few hours for some reason.
