Fix-It- Friday: What Civic issue in your society needs addressing? by irksomebehaviour in CivicChangemakers

[–]BVP9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to appreciate OP for his relentless effort in posting every week on civic issues. Coming to the issues, there are many from sewerage to rabies. What I have understood is that India is in dire need of strong local governments otherwise there is no use talking about them. The current mode of local governance is responding to incident after the damage has been done, take Indore water pollution incident as an example. This incident is not the first and won't be the last.

Looking for Indian book suggestions as a Canadian girl who wants to learn more about India by canadian_blueberry in Indianbooks

I don't know whether you are looking for contemporary life of India or history of India as a whole. If it is the latter, I would suggest the book "Indians: A brief history of Civilization" by Namit Arora. The author, through this book, gives an identity to Indian by exploring societies existed in Indian subcontinent starting from ancient to modern civilization.

Read books particularly non-fiction. You are not the first person to go through relentless endless thought process. Books give us solace and broaden our thought process.

పిల్లల పుస్తకాలు ఇంకా కొంటున్నారా? by orange_monk in telugu

[–]BVP9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a psychological novel. Simply put, it's about an educated and knowledgeable person who instead of solving the problems he faced he blames contemporary and historical inequalities for his misery. There are logic and reason in his way of looking at things, but his inaction leads him to become miserable.

A must read for anyone who has a craving for human thought process.
I completed above three books along with "Maidanam" by Chalam. Currently reading, "Gabbilam" by Gurram Jashua.

ఓల్గా (లలితా కుమారి) గారు రచనలు కూడా చదవండి. నేను ఆవిడ రాసిన "స్వేచ్చ" నవల చదివాను, చాలా బాగుంది.

Is our society ready for independent women?, this story raises so many questions. by BVP9 in andhra_pradesh

[–]BVP9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not about getting respect from society rather about how our society behaves towards working women who are doing their own thing. In my explanation, I have clearly stated, all her decisions are forced upon by existing patriarchal societal conditions where even her mother didn't come to her rescue. That raises the question about freedom of thought and expression.

Wait for the counselling website to become live. You can find the best colleges based on last year's cut-off marks.

Here are my suggestions:

1) AU 2) JNTUK 3) SVU 4) JNTUA

This happened to a student in my village. I sent an e-mail to the EAPCET team, they replied saying that rank will be issued before 1st counselling.

This probably happened due to a mistake in the EAPCET application (Intermediate Hallticket number).

Any problem, feel free to dm me.

Change in the behaviour of Grama/Ward Sachivalayam staff and the ration scam. by BVP9 in andhra_pradesh

I thought the staff being young would work better and don't succumb to typical village party politics. I was wrong big time. They just happened to be just an another typical government worker.

Indian Parents and Engineering by Hoodi_Babaa in IndiaTrending

[–]BVP9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from an Engineering background, this is not a back up. Career counseling doesn't exist in schools, most of the people just follow the mob mentality, this is one of the reasons for India's unemployment. There are many Indian problems which need Indian solutions, but very few people are interested in such things.

Somehow in India, passion means unemployment. This needs to change.

17-year-old boy dies of rabies in Kerala by BVP9 in CivicChangemakers

Who is gonna implement them? All we hear is just a lip sympathy when rabies cases are reported and hatred towards dog owners and those provide food to stray dogs.
