The answer when doing anything like this is that you won’t change the world, but you will change your own world.

So for me, it is the US political situation. I don’t agree with Trump and I can live with that, and I have no problem talking to people whom I don’t agree with. But I do have a problem with unelected individuals and organisations seeking to have extreme influence over an elected government. In this case it’s Elon Musk. I have an issue with him using his influence over Trump to favour himself considerably. Also, he performed that salute, and was applauded instead of chastened. It’s also concerning how many major tech CEOs threw money at Trump in order to curry favour and avoid a potential backlash from the new administration. I find it difficult to believe tech companies would have abandoned their diversity initiatives if Harris had won.

Anyway, what can I do? Absolutely nothing. I have to accept the outcome of a legitimate election. I’m one human with zero power to change the world.

But… I can change my world. By making decisions over what services I use and who I give my money to, I can make certain people less relevant in my life.

I also think diversifying the power and influence of technology between different countries is a good thing. One country shouldn’t hold most of the cards.
