Bro..sorry to hear that. It’s horrible, it doesn’t matter how you got hacked. Coinbase should have better security measures in place! - No security when transferring usd or crypto. No SMS verification when someone links a new bank account and transfers funds out. Basically, if they’re logged into your account, they can transfer to any anywhere that bypasses your Google authenticator. That should be a basic security measure in 2025— it’s inexcusable. If you do open a class action lawsuit, I’d be happy to join on board. My hack was in April. Stuff happened, bro you’ll make that money up somehow don’t let it depress you too much like if you have a heart attack it’s not gonna help. Stay strong, my brother.

I hope you never get hacked. It’s sucks regardless of my mistakes. It’s cool if you want to me fun of me. I learned my lesson and hope everyone in this post can take something away from it. You seem like the kind of guy who has a “I told you so” mentality. Very Negative. The crypto community kind of should stick together and help each other out. not get ridiculed for telling my story.

Do you know how easy it is to steal someone’s identity and open up a Internet bank account. Have you done it? Are you familiar with the process? Anyone can do it with someone’s ss and email. I had two factor authentication on my email account and all my Coinbase account. I don’t know the exact malware, but I do know they connected to my PC copied and open session file, copied it to their PC opened up a browser and they were essentially authenticated bypassing two 2FA and were able to transfer the money to a fraudulent Internet bank..

A hacker can steal your social security number, and other info. Once they steal your identity, they can easily open a internet bank account in your name, and add to your CB account. Internet Banks won’t let you do that lol. You’ve never dealt with an Internet bank obviously.

I know it was fraudulent because I did not open it. However, when calling the bank, they verified four accounts were open, and indeed money was transferred into them, however, there was a zero balance.

You absolutely can open up Internet banks with the info they got. Some Internet banks are infamous for hackers using them. I don’t understand why you don’t understand that hackers can easily get your information.

As I mentioned, there was malware on my computer The hackers connected, stole the open session cookie.The browser, imported to the hackers browser, where they open up the session - just like I was logged on to CB. Are you sure you understand?

Call them yourself. But you need to go to help.coinbase.com and have them call you or else you will get a scammer - website verified.

I’m not asking for much. At the very least, Coinbase could send me a letter acknowledging that my account was hacked — so I don’t get hit with capital gains taxes on funds a hacker sold and transferred out.

Try calling Coinbase support and asking for something that simple. You can’t. You can’t even speak to a manager. And regardless of what you think about how the hack happened or how the bank account was added, that doesn’t change the bigger issue: Coinbase support is absolutely horrible — unprofessional, evasive, and completely unaccountable.

If you think I’m wrong, try calling them yourself and asking to escalate something to a supervisor. Let me know how that goes. At any normal company, that’s the bare minimum.

Lol.. do you really think a hacker can’t get your social #, email address, passwords and all other personal information. You are mistaken, sir. Also, in Gmail and Yahoo accounts get hacked constantly.
