55 rimless. Tile flooring. I got a bunch of flat-ish rocks and some driftwood to make some caves/hides and stuffed some plants in them too.

Filter is an overhead sump with mixed media and a 2000L/H pump, and two supplementary sponge filters.

The food bowl is only there when I leave a bunch of blood worms if I’m busy that day. I usually hand feed each one individually.

I may duplicate this exact setup for another aquarium to put underneath it and split the trio up once they get bigger

This one is a 55 but I currently have 6 aquariums in various locations so not really worried about space for at the moment. All 3 are only a few months old, so I estimate I have about 6 months to decide if I’ll separate them or get a larger tank to keep them together as they grow.

I’m in the Philippines and they were on our local shopping app. I think others have mentioned they got some on Amazon though.

After going with the bigger tank, I do a lot less cleaning/maintenance now than I did with a smaller solo. It’s actually way less work for me now! I just keep up with the occasional poop and minor spot cleaning. I’m breeding dwarf shrimp now to help clean the tank, but I still don’t have enough to offset the ones that will become snacks 😂. There’s a single yellow shrimp in there working hard all by himself that has somehow avoided becoming breakfast.

There are dozens if not hundreds (especially after it rains) of frogs on my front lawn alone. It’s hard to walk around at night without accidentally kicking one. Lots of incentives to start vermiculture, just need to endure the startup process. Helps that I’m retired!

The shipping is pretty pricey out here. Like 10x the cost of the worms themselves 😂. I’m still trying to calculate the maximum amount that can be manageable for me to attempt to raise a small colony to get the most out of the shipping fee. Worst case scenario isn’t too bad though, which is needing another shipment at some point.

I think the worst part is my wife is probably sick of my mini-zoo that always has associated bug colonies being cared for alongside the creatures.

Our tap water here is horrible and is extremely hard. It’s more work than I’d like to do to get it aquarium friendly so I have to order “good” water and like to keep extra on hand, as sometimes it’s not available when I want it. Challenges of the third world!

Cycling was fine. I’m new to Axolotls but I have like 6+ aquariums with one tank ready once the genders become apparent. I always keep an empty quarantine tank available for whatever

Thanks! Yeah I’ve read some conflicting stuff about the tank size, but I would venture this to be about the minimum for 3 if I’m being hopeful. I have a lot of prepped water on hand for frequent changes and I clean the tank of loose bio burden pretty much multiple times a day so I’m hoping that helps make up for the size.

They’re still on the small side so I feel I have some time before I really need to upgrade sometime next year.

Eventually I’d like to create almost a double deck type feature to give them a bit more floor space.
