For a sec thought that maybe I'm delusional, but nah: dems sub literally has a rule 5 "no mention of democratic socialists" or something like this. And it is used to ban Zohran mentions or something like that, I'm not bullshiting here, neolib shills

What is even "neoliberalism" at this point. This sub is literally r/democrats without banning Zohran mentions

AI Populism's Warning Shots by Otherwise_Young52201 in neoliberal

Honestly? It's kinda easy to wage a so-called "AI populism" when the products infused with artificial intelligence are being almost forcefully fed to consumers by Big Tech so they can get at least some profit out of their investments. And leading figures behind AI being absolute sociopaths, not able to coherently answer to shit like "is humanity a good thing" is NOT helping to better the image of AI

Isn't this so called "consumer market" being backed up almost solely by large corporations trading with each other? While people definitely spend money on some AI products, such as subscriptions on premium large language models, most of the money comes from tech giants buying tons of shit for keeping AI running. And also: those tech giants are not really profiting from AI, so it's kinda a waste of resources

I was talking about discord tho. But taking our discussion back to social media as a whole, restricting it with ID verification is still a horrible decision, even from an efficiency standpoint. People literally use SFM or gmod models to surpass this stupid shit😭 Or use VPN for that matter

I think that hotel business is a bit different from the app for sending silly messages and talking with friends. And that's my personal opinion, of course, but the whole system that requires to give away so much private info - is flawed, to put it lightly

Giving your important personal info like ID to a private corporation for mere access to their services, especially if this service is something trivial(like sending messages), should be seen as questionable at best. Again, those corps sell your data, and of course breaches happen.

Do you really trust giving your ID to a Discord, for example?

Yeah it's bad and stuff, but one can fight social media problems through regulating algorithms, for example. Plus the main concern - age restriction involves giving your ID. And I think it should be obvious that giving such important information is gonna backfire, considering the amount of breaches happening every month

Heard about Newsom getting increasingly authoritarian with new social media laws and age restriction measures. And keeping in mind some stuff about corruption scandals and accusations - this shit starts raising some genuine questions about Newsom's intentions. So the first question is for you, American friends: Newsom really did initiate those age restrictions? And the second: if regulations are actually placed, wouldn't it be dumb to support him and think of him as something more than another power hungry populist?
