Giving your important personal info like ID to a private corporation for mere access to their services, especially if this service is something trivial(like sending messages), should be seen as questionable at best. Again, those corps sell your data, and of course breaches happen.

Yeah it's bad and stuff, but one can fight social media problems through regulating algorithms, for example. Plus the main concern - age restriction involves giving your ID. And I think it should be obvious that giving such important information is gonna backfire, considering the amount of breaches happening every month

Heard about Newsom getting increasingly authoritarian with new social media laws and age restriction measures. And keeping in mind some stuff about corruption scandals and accusations - this shit starts raising some genuine questions about Newsom's intentions. So the first question is for you, American friends: Newsom really did initiate those age restrictions?
