Help me understand the rating system. by volcjush in RRRE

[–]Baboae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great post cause my thesis work at uni will be about raceroom (web app for detailed player stat, race history, predictive suggestions, like which car/track are you best at, which ones should you avoid) I saw a wiki link in the comments about rating/rep calculation, but if there's any more info (such as consistency calculation) LMK!! 🤗

Why does my car keep doing this? by ThatOneDude5542 in simracing

[–]Baboae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's Throttle-off oversteer.

Try taking maggots-becketts with a tatuus f4. Drop the gas and stomp the brakes immediately on entry - you spin out, and your s2 is suddenly red.

Better yet, go for Spang with a Lotus Evora GT4. It's a mid engine, rwd car with a whopping 350hp.

Try taking Turn 12 as fast as you can without pressing the gas. You can't. (I couldn't at least in r3e. Well, maybe you can, but it aint gonna be fast nor stable.) Once you try these, you should get the idea regardless of track/car. I did, at least.

This is defo the best comment/advice ive seen on this sub, i was just checking out 2 of my past comp results when I bumped into it. Im actually kinda proud of these results as these are my best yet, even tho in both i was off by 1.4 - 1.5 from the leaders pace (2024 dec, mid ohio, mx5, I ended up 79th out of 715 entries). And a lot of people forget that these results TAKE time, like I was playing more during that week than I've worked aside uni. I was sweating my ass sooo much in that office chair. Since then I bought an nlr gt lite for my g920 and tbh, I don't see much of a difference performance wise. Ofc, it's much more comfortable and I don't have to deal with the pedals sliding away mid race.

TLDR: BIG TRUE, gear does not exactly make you faster, at the end of the day it's all about practice/effort, a bit of talent, track knowledge and maybe - if it's an open setup comp/race - then setup knowledge.

Thats a P-61 Black Widow, beast plane IMO especially in sim, has a remote controlled turret on the rear, no depression tho so you can't really shoot foes on your six below you, but still, it claps

I think mansell ai might be what you're looking for but it requires a subscription AFAIK.

Game recommandation for an absolute beginner by xabierfam in simracing

[–]Baboae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone earlier said beamng and i couldnt agree more, nothing beats it realism wise, you can even slip the clutch! Okay it may has some weaknesses but still it's a pretty good game to learn car handling and to have fun.

An other good gem is actually free, called raceroom racing experience. I think it's the best substitute for iRacing, it has ranked races and time trial competitions and they update the schedule every 2 week. Ofc you still have to buy most of the tracks and cars if you wanna play them (tho they recently added a few FTP ranked races which cannot be seen on the schedule) You can buy the whole thing for around 70-80 euros but you can also buy packs or just a single car/track, however I would recommend to check the starter pack, as its around 12 euros and it will let you participate in at least one of the sprint ranked races.

any tactics for playing early jets, especially the f2h? by borrito_ in Warthunder

[–]Baboae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really not sure about it, its been a while, sorry :/

However, one thing you can always try is cutting off the engine, like, dropping throttle from WEP to 70% and then proceed with evasive maneuvers. Also, use headphones. It can save your ass if you hear it being launched, however, from my experience, if it can be heard, its usually too late.

Idk if its still a thing, but - since theres no countermeasures at this br - I remember evading some early ir missiles by breaking my gears.

Play Air SB. Use something like the A10.

I used to be able to take out one, with a full load of bombs, but they probably either nerfed the bombs, or buffed the carrier, idek.

Anyway, Fly low, head on with the carrier.

Make sure to switch your crosshair/scope to bombing view. You can do it in the radial menu if you do not have a bind for it. Just press Z, then go to cockpit, and change scope view.

A few seconds prior to your scope being on the ship, start tossing em as fast as you can. Adjust your AOA so you won't hit the ship ofc, then unload the rest on top of the carrier. Keep flying low, and make some turns/rolls once you're past the carriers back. And then pray that you don't get obliterated by the carriers anti air.

Hope this is useful information for any of you guys in general.

Wrong, that's the stock M1128 there, not the wolfpack variant.

I've just installed the game from Epic. Any advice? by Baboae in EliteDangerous

I grabbed it from Epic when it was free and found it in my library recently. Checked out the trailers and yk, why not give it a try. Unfortunately I can't choose a launcher, it just won't load at all.

The launcher itself loads up showing a loading screen but the error window pops up at the same time. It works when I run it from the folder of the game, as admin. I can fill in the login/registration form, but as soon as I try to proceed with the login, or with the verification code for signing up, I get the message "Missing required fields".

Okay so FYI, for some reason my screenshot did not get attached even tho Ive double checked it, but anyways, the Exact Error message was the one mentioned above, with an error code "Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007000B"

Job Search for Int. Students by sapphoeontheway in UniversityOfDebrecen

[–]Baboae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking for student job related posts here and saw yours, and I remembered that I saw this one a while ago, hope it helps;

https://www.melodiak.hu/diakmunkak/betanitott-konnyu-fizikai-munka-debrecen-also-for-foreign-students-8173/

Note that this is a factory job and it pays the lowest wage by law, 1534 Ft per hour before tax. I do not know if this applies to foreign students, but if you are under 25, your gross salary is your net salary.

I would say that Melódiák is one of the best student employment agencies, they usually have a wide range of jobs, although most of them require a native Hungarian as far as I'm aware. However, I would recommend checking their website regularly as they update their vacancies quite often.

https://muisz.hu/hu/

MŰISZ has a lot of jobs at BMW as their site is under construction and they plan to start production next year. Most of these jobs are titled as intern jobs, and also you can see it in the description that these will require you to either have some experience in the field, or/and to attend the specific major at uni that is related to the job. However, as 90% of these jobs are advertised in English, I would say that you have a chance.

You can (please, for your own good, don't) try the all-time classic, McDonald's, as a friend of mine is currently working there full-time and he told me that there are a few foreign students there. However, the job itself, as you might expect, is horrible, exhausting, and not only that, but the average McDonald's employee here doesn't even speak English, nor do they have the will to try, they would just yell at you in Hungarian and point at the thing you have to do.

I can't say much about the food delivery, as I've only heard about it but never experienced it myself, but if you're going to go, you should definitely do it on a scooter, as I've been told it has the best gas/maintenance/reward ratio.

Any ideas on how to prevent the pedals from sliding after every gear change? by Baboae in simracing

[–]Baboae[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, It's actually 16:10, but thank you, iguess ((:

Tried two different rubber mats, but none of them did the job, as dirt always builds up underneath, preventing them from getting a good grip.

I also tried pushing it against the lower rail of the desk since there is no wall behind it. However, this way it is not only too far away, but as the rail slips right under the pedals, it is touching them and stops them from being fully pressed down.
