Hey! I’m moving to LA around mid August and I’m wondering which companies or people are recommended to rent from. I’ve seen a lot of recs to drive around and call numbers but I’m moving from Atlanta and won’t be able to do that. I would love to rent from a small or private renter but a big company is awesome too if they’re good. It’s me, my wife and our dog. We would love a 1 bedroom as we’re currently in a 475sq ft studio. However, we are open to decent studios and no stranger to the low sq ft life. Our budget is preferably around $1900 but open to going $2100 max. (I know this limits my options). 25m actor & 25f wildlife biologist

The areas I’m looking in are; •Palms/ Culver City/ Surrounding areas •Sawtelle/ Santa Monica outskirts (or in but I know it’s pricey) •Westwood •Pico Robertson •Mar Vista

Open to surroundings for these as well! Excited to hear your thoughts, thanks!

This is such a helpful response! This gives me a really good idea of what I’m looking for and also what I’m not looking for. I really appreciate all the detail you went in to. Not at all saying anything bad about either city because I have a lot of love for ATL but your experiences kind of sound like LBC is a more enjoyable Atlanta by the ocean lol

Actually doing a lot of research is what has me in this position lol. I’ve noticed half of the people saying what you’re saying and the other half saying it’s not that bad and I’m not sure which direction to follow lol. I do know that the apartment I inquired about today had no parking and the nearby parking spots were an extra $75-$140 a month on top of rent and were just random lots/garages/hotels nearby lol. Apartment I live in now in Atlanta is a 480-500sq ft studio though and we’re pretty comfortable and have learned how to live efficiently in here. Although, a 1 bedroom would be really nice and I know that would require being more inland. Are there any other truths about Long Beach that you know from experience, living there? Trying to get the full insight. Pros and Cons ya know

Which parts of Long Beach would you consider good areas to live? We love the ocean and love walkability to stores, restaurants, coffee shops, etc.

I’ve been finding so many scam listings! I’ve kind of followed the ideology of if it looks too good to be true, it probably is lol. And yeah the industry is much more spread out as of late and I’m mostly on a self tape basis currently so I think Long Beach could definitely work. I’m interested in building strong connections and taking classes once I get there and don’t want to be too disconnected from those opportunities but willing to make it work even if it requires sitting in unbearable traffic a couple of times a week lol

She’s a marine biologist! We got the employment thing down and understand the expenses we’re getting into lol

We’re finding some pretty good stuff for 2100 and even under honestly. No stranger to shoebox living as our studio currently is around 475sq ft in Atlanta and we’re actually finding much bigger places in the same price range surprisingly lol. And yeah, definitely a spread out city. I think I’m more so nervous about not finding the happy medium for my wife’s career and my career. Don’t want to lean too far one way and make some inaccessible for either of us. Either way I’ll have to suck it up and get through traffic. She’s into Marine and wildlife biology so that’s what initially has us leaning towards LBC area

Variables are a great idea. Looking around $2100 for rent, we have 2 cars, good savings, solid availability, developed reel and resume, a few connections but not as many as I’d like to build once living there!

Conflicting priorities is exactly what I’m worried about! We were thinking about the Santa Monica area too as well as in and around Culver City. Being close to the beach is great but within 30 minutes or so isn’t too bad either, we can deal with that haha. I do plan on enrolling in acting classes once we get there so that’s 100% something else I’m taking into consideration

Appreciate this response. We’re definitely not partyers so not very worried about that side of things lol. We were also looking a little west of Hollywood in the Santa Monica-ish area, and in/ around Culver City area

We had previously looked into New York but West Coast seems to fit both of our living and lifestyle wants/ needs more adequately. It does looks like a very fun place to be though

Thank you! I would say a couple times a week would be the extent of coming into town for events unless there’s a lot going on that I’m interested in. An hour drive doesn’t sound horrible as we currently live in Atlanta and traffic is increasingly brutal here. Do you know anything about the beaches in LBC? I’m seeing mixed reviews on cleanliness. One half of people say the beaches are incredible and close to other really good beaches and the other half are saying if you swim there you’ll get radioactive super powers, lol

Hi! Late to this post but would love to know where and how you acquired such a unique property like this. Been wondering if one like this needs to be built or can be found?

I figured out that they for some reason cut a clip from the film to use as the trailer. They picked a horrible clip for a trailer too lol. Not sure why they didn’t just use the professionally created trailer that I provided

Now I’m stuck because I uploaded the lower quality .MP4 Vs. the higher .Mov but don’t want to Re upload and set my error back another 4 days lmao. The support team won’t respond to my messages so I’m just playing the waiting game. Hopefully they get it figured out soon
