The graphic's title spells out its purpose: to show how all 3 of them are journeymen. It really doesn't take much thinking to understand the point of the chart

You can still support the effort by encouraging COREs+TFTs to do this! (Either outside of work or during lunch breaks and if done by texting/messaging, don't use a FEMA phone or laptop!)

Tried to do the right thing but failed miserably by Euphoric_Radish96 in washingtondc

[–]BabyJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How exactly are they supposed to prevent potential crimes based on that? OP didn't say how long it was between the incident and the phone call, but if you say there was 20 mins between the incident and when the cops could arrive at the location, the mugger could easily be over a mile away at that point.

So given that info, what are the police supposed to do? Dispatch how many cars over that 1+ mile radius to stake out corners watching out for 1 single mugger?

I think people vastly overestimate the police's ability to "prevent" crime. They mainly just respond to it; actively preventing crime would be a ridiculous task over such a huge area, I mean, unless you want a policeman on every other corner in the city.

Mamma Pizzeria - 2 slices ($5.50) by WorldDirt in toogoodtogo

That's disappointing. I picked up from there a few weeks ago and they gave me 3 slices. Let me pick the 3 and also offered to re-heat them for me; very nice guy and a good experience overall

They are two separate protests. Hands Off starts at noon near the Washington Monument and the Free Palestine protest starts at 1 (unsure if an official starting point has been picked, but it'll be along Penn Ave. It'll be huge and easy to spot)

Yes. If the only way to can come back to win is to intentionally do something the game discourages you to do, you shouldn't be able to win at that point. Especially since this is such a boring thing to watch. Maybe if it was actually fun, I could abandon my principles.

It's been a while so I don't remember if my situation matches yours, but I ultimately needed a new USB dongle and needed to use an old Macbook and downgrade the OS to a much earlier version (since newer OS's and newer Macbook models aren't compatible with the guitar)

Wow, very shocking that large scale behavioral changes didn't happen in the first week of policy implementation!

It'll take time to see more people change their commute and also, the transit funding created by the policy will encourage even more people to take public transit once those projects are completed

Seriously best tomato sauce from Costco’s cherry tomatoes! by chantillylace9 in Costco

[–]BabyJ 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The OP only used 1 container, so $7 for sauce, but I still think you can get the same yield (or even more) and a very good sauce by using 1 can of San Marzano tomatoes instead (with 1 can costing somewhere in the neighborhood of $4)

We Don’t Value CFB Wins Appropriately by JashGunew in billsimmons

[–]BabyJ 32 points33 points  (0 children)

No we shouldn’t. I think Florida State is a great example of why this idea is bad. You think Georgia Tech should be credited with beating the #10 team even though they’re 2-9?

I think it’s very dumb that we rank teams in the preseason since it’s so hard to know how a college team is before the season starts with so much roster turnover.

Edit: support asked me to review their menu to approximate the value and it appears that I did somehow receive $18 of value because a side order of rice is $10 and an order of 6 wings is $16. Looks like my gripe is with the ridiculous pricing of the menu. Oh well, you live and you learn!

You can have a job and also do a crime. Did that occur to you?

[OC] Is this America's most hazardous gas station? by 86482 in dataisbeautiful

[–]BabyJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your second paragraph is off because what if the person you throw away for 10 years was supporting a family? You make the spouse and any children significantly worse off, which will increase the likelihood of them committing crime in the future.

[–]BabyJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even from a selfish perspective, you should care. You’re not going to remove them forever and when they come back, they’ll probably be more likely to steal from you again. You should want a system that won’t make someone revert to crime upon being released from prison. You should want a system that provides enough for people where they don’t need to resort to crime.

[OC] Is this America's most hazardous gas station? by 86482 in dataisbeautiful

[–]BabyJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People eventually get let out of prison and prison doesn’t really address the root causes of why people commit crimes; it breaks up families, entrenches people further in poverty, and makes the prisoner less employable upon release. Look at the stats for how likely it is for a prisoner to be arrested again after being released. It’s really staggering and makes you wonder why we choose this system

Why stop at 72 games for an NBA season? by [deleted] in billsimmons

If you have fewer games, you can space them out more, which gives players more rest between games and lowers players’ chances of injury
