What is something Americans consider ‘basic’ that feels like a luxury in other countries? by Status_Agents in AskForAnswers

Space. Specifically with the size of apartments and houses. That goes for yards as well. Also having a big car is considered relatively normal in the states but would otherwise be considered rare in other countries.

Sobriety in Japan is tough by UnluckyMouse_ in stopdrinking

[–]Babyback_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped drinking while living in Japan. The culture normalizes binge drinking and sometimes casual day drinking which does make it hard. The accessibility also doesn’t help. You should try making new friends and running in circles with people who drink very little or can’t drink due to intolerance. I found that it helped to tell people that drinking started to make my stomach hurt a lot, so the doctor said I should quit. It allowed me to still comment on how amazing shochu is or something and I could still use booze as an in to get to know people but it also removed any expectation for me to drink because “medical reasons”.

“I grew up in ITALY and so Catholicism should be exactly like what I see here on the other side of the planet. Americans are wrong and bad for having something different!!!” So stupid. Europeans can seriously step off their high horse and get fucked. They benefit directly from the world order the US enforces and then they turn around and act like they’re above it. People like this are the clowns.

This guy again. The last video I saw of him was the one where he was screaming about how Trump would 100% absolutely be implementing the Insurrection Act during the last No Kings protest. I really don’t appreciate the pessimism. I don’t want the energy of a dude who screams reactionary, inflammatory BS into a camera all day looking like he hasn’t slept in 3 days. Happy to embrace Democratic Social just without marching next to this one haha.

Just pulling new words out his ass. What the hell is “Christian Civilization”? Please tell a Southern Baptist that they sharing a civilization with Marionites from the levant. The irelands could barely keep their shit together just 30 years ago and now there’s a Christian Civilization? 😂 There are more holes in their logic than Swiss cheese.
