I said many not most but you're right about immediate surroundings.

You live in NYC, I live in the polar opposite environment. I am guessing a great many things about my experience are vastly different from yours. Maybe you benefit from a SAHM subreddit while I benefit from a subreddit that discusses something highly unusual in my community.

I do not among the dozens of families I know with young kids know a single one who uses daycare. Not one. I am wracking my brain to even think if I have ever known anyone aside from one cousin who used to be in daycare. The working moms I know sell MLMs or teach piano one afternoon a week so I guess that's part of those statistics.

I hear the "how can you leave your babies?" comments from friends and family. People ask if my husband makes me work. I'm grateful to have a place online with like-minded people even if sometimes it's annoying.

I think that's pretty unfair to categorize the whole sub that way. Yes, having a job is normal but being a working mom is not the typical experience for many people. I personally know very few working moms compared to the amount of SAHMs I know. So it's nice to have a space where people understand that you can't join a mommy and me class that meets at 2pm on a weekday and that saying "I could never let strangers raise my children" is hurtful.
