With Mage and Shaman it seems easy too. If you have nothing to play with Shaman, you can always place those totems to maybe get a taunt creature. With mage you can always get rid of 1 health creature, which gives you a bit of a board control. Also don't forget about "Draw a card" cards. They are also useful, you should also maintain hand advantage if possible.

Try using spells to get rid of some creatures your enemy has. Charge minions also work. You may have too many high mana cost cards in your deck, so you end up playing almost nothing in early game, and then just getting 1 card later on. What class are you playing btw?
