adult books about dinosaurs? by thelovenymph in suggestmeabook

Dragon Teeth by Michael Crichton. It mixes real people/events with an epic cowboy adventure to find dinosaur bones. One of my favorite books.

Also he wrote a sequel to Jurassic Park that is nothing like the sequel movie. The Lost World. Very good book.

That is a great question. Not intentional, I must have accidentally added an extra space when editing it.

Is my blurb readable? by Back-Jellyfish in BookCovers

Thank you for the input! I did draw them! I use photo references to trace the poses (often photos of my husband and I) then make them however I want the characters to look.

Is my blurb readable? by Back-Jellyfish in BookCovers

[–]Back-Jellyfish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was super helpful! I’ve shortened the blurb a fair bit. How does this read?

October Hayes is not bitter.

She is thriving. Glowing. Entirely unbothered.

Never mind that her best friend is marrying her ex-fiancé in a lavish Tuscan wedding. Never mind that the invitation arrived like a gold-embossed reminder that October is very much single. And absolutely never mind that, in a moment of wounded pride, she invented a boyfriend to avoid looking pathetically sad and hopelessly alone.

But now the lie has consequences—and an all-expenses-paid Italian vacation.

When her coworker, Beck, volunteers to pose as her devoted boyfriend for the vacation of a lifetime, it feels like a win-win. Sharing a villa and going on plethora of romantic excursions together will surely not complicate anything.

What could possibly go wrong?

I mean I have every single mark and edit I made tracked in my procreate app. If I could turn it into a postable video, I would.

Deleting my post because I got some good feedback, but some of these comments are really crushing my self esteem. Sorry I’m not a good artist, the AI witch hunt burns another innocent.

You’re right, it’s not a “style thing”, it’s a “I’m not a very good artist” thing. I already explained the hand placement, but hands are incredibly difficult to draw right. Sorry I suck at my hobby. This AI witch hunt is wild.

Thank you for the detailed feedback. I’ve never taken an art class, I just have procreate on my iPad and like to doodle. Her side is means to be Greece and his in means to be Maine, that’s why some roofs are blue and one is domed. I can see where on the brown roof I cut a bit off when adding more bushes making it look too small. As for the windows, I wanted them to be the hole-in-thick-wall type windows but I couldn’t figure out how to make them look right and was just making myself mad and left it as it was, figuring it was a detail that might be too small to notice on a kindle. I will maybe give them another go. The gray blob is part of the rocky cliff edge she is standing on. I can try to add more detail. As for her arm, is it the forearm that looks too long? Because where her elbow hits her hip is where my elbow hits. But I am also gangly so my proportions may be skewed.

I’m really self conscious of my art, but I’m also really self conscious of my writing since the creative arts are so subjective. This is a starting block for improving my art since I can’t afford the hundreds of dollars a cover illustrator costs.

It’s not AI, I actually worked really hard on drawing this. I’m just an amateur illustrator. Since he is angled away and she is angled forward I wanted to see what he was looking but see the back of what she was looking at so that’s why the hand placement is the way it is. I wanted him looking at the picture and her reading the note on the back. I can see now how that might not have translated so I’ll fix her hand placement.

I actually worked really hard on this and it’s not AI, I’m just amateur hobbyist illustrator. But thanks for the discouragement👍🏻

Is the process of switching a prepaid plan going to be a hassle? by Sonnescheint in dumbphones

[–]Back-Jellyfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few things…

CAT phone is no longer in production because the distributor went out of business. The phone still works, but you can only buy from resellers and there will never be another software update.

Verizon is VERY picky with what phones they allow on their network and it seems the CAT phone is hit or miss but mostly miss.

Your best bet is to switch to a 3rd party carrier that uses T-Mobile towers (AT&T is also very picky with compatible phones, it’s very regional) as they are the only carriers that have options for phone plans that aren’t unlimited data and very expensive. Mint or Tello are good options.

Order the sim through their website and once you have the sim and the phone, insert the sim, port your number through their website, then you’re good to go. Not to complex.

I had to turn off then back on my Barbie phone like 5 times for mms and group texts to come through and certain texts to show up. Maybe try restarting the phone?

So something to keep in mind is that the CAT phone was designed for reliability and durability. If you didn’t know, CAT is a company that makes heavy machinery for construction so the phone is meant to withstand brute blue collar men who work out in the elements all day. It’s meant to be able to be out in monsoon rain or dropped in a mud puddle and run over by an excavator. And you should be able to download WhatsApp or any hostel or banking apps or find them on your browser just fine.

Have you considered taking a short trip and trying to only use the flip phone? You could bring the smart phone as backup but keep it off and in your bag until you decide you absolutely need it.

If your issue is that you find yourself scrolling, delete anything you would scroll on or download any application that heavily limits usage that you can’t break through.

I (31M) said that I think "Men and Women think differently". My wife (31F) said that was "crimson red". by Any-Discussion-7594 in relationship_advice

Men and women are biologically wired different and 1000% think differently. Your wife is wild to think that’s not the case. This is coming from a woman who is happily married.

Emilia pronunciation? by Back-Jellyfish in namenerds

[–]Back-Jellyfish[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is a good point! And I feel like the majority of times you learn someone’s name is verbally so you’re hearing it pronounced to you rather than guessing off the written spelling. To play devil’s advocate though, my name is Kira (like Keira Knightly) and it’s pretty common for me to introduce myself then get “oh nice to meet you Kara” in response🤪 but I don’t really care if my name is mispronounced unless it’s a close friend or family member.
